Hey guy's. I read this forum everyday but post very little. But now A Great Uncle needs a little help. I have two great nephews one 9 the other 6 that just love to fish. I've been a avvid Bass fisherman all my life. But for them it's too much work -not enough bites. Sold my boat last year, so we're stuck on the bank. They use to go with their Dad. But we lost him last year (Iraq. 1st marines). Does anyone on here know of a safe, easy access, place to take a couple of great kids carp or catfishing? The perch bit has worn thin for them and they would like something that pulls a little harded. Maybe somewhere at Joe Pool, Lewisville, Tawkoni, Grapevine. Thanks for all your help.

These are prob some of the better places to fish for cats from teh banks, in order
Tawakoni: At holiday marina, there is a rocky "jetty" out towards the lake from the main boat ramp. I've seen many LARGE blues come off the flat area out there. Chicken livers and shrimp. You can run into the occassional hybrid as they are plentyful here. There has been talks about them hitting chicken liver, but i've never tried it. Talk about a GOOD FIGHT! Hold ON
Lewisville: Go to lake park right off Justin and 35. Once you enter the park, go out to any off the SANDY points at the end of the park. The dam will be on your right. Shad is best here Blues/Hybrids/channels/flathead are all around. Be careful wading here..... there are many drop offs near shore. i think that is what draws the fish here.
Grapevine: Havent fished "G" ever since they revamped Murral park. It used to be free. Forgot the name of the road, but you just keep straight into the park and the road will turn left on the shores. I used to fish in between the high cliffs. In between is small rocks/pebbles and sand. the small rocks/pebbles can be sharp so wear shoes. You can sene for glass minnows/ghost minnows.
Joe Pool: Under the Lynn creek marina. long walk. Just park at the marina and walk along the the road to the bridge. Go half way out from the jettie just past the marina and the bridge and cast out to where all the boats are coming and going. Sandbass school here and there are the occassional channel. Havent' pulled a blue from JP as of yet. Also there are no hybrids here.
have fun and good luck

Terribly sorry regarding your nephew.

Yea it was tough. But seeing that Marine hand that Floded Amercan Flag to his 8 yr old son was the hardest thing I have ever had to watch. We need to keep all our service men & women in our pryers daily and the families they left behind. And remember always Freedom comes with a price. And many brave men and women are willing to pay the ultimate price so we can enjoy it.
