I like the 3" pearl white. Excellent bait!

What is the best way to rig the shrimp? Under a cork?

Rig Gulp ? I have used them under a popping cork, inserting a #4 circle hook in the tail and pulling the shrimp backwards, sometimes tipping the hook with a piece of fresh dead bait shrimp. I've also caught fish with Gulp with a drop rig on the bottom.

Been curious as to how well gulp stays on the hook...
New to saltwater fishing but have been almost every weekend for the past 4 months... Been bringing home coolers of fish but seems like I spend more time hooking shrimp than i do actually in the water, Eyeballed some ofthe gulp baits at walmart but havent tried em...

rig 'em on a lead head jig. As light as possible...1/8 to 1/4 oz or lighter if possible. You rig them like this under a cork too.

I've never tried but I'm betting you can Carolina or Texas rig 'em too.

Any suggestions about 4" as opposed to 3" for the bay in the fall/winter? Going to invest in the bucket, color is not a problem, but thinking about chaging sizes. Also, has anyone tried Gulp jerkbaits?

Has anyone had success with the Gulp strip bait ("cut bait")? I was thinking that it might be good to tip a gold spoon with.

Im gonna just HAVE to try that this weekend....
I waited 3 hours labor day weekend for bait, and like i said, live shrimp get pulled off the hook as fast as they hit the water sometimes.

My hesitation was we have been bringing home coolers of fish using live shrimp, but each day is running us about $60 in bait whereas a tub of 20 of these gulps that (hopefully) stay on a hook and last longer are $20.

Am I to assume they last as long as most tubes??

addition: mainly wondering if a 2 person group can get through a day of fishing on that package of 20 gulps with no significant decline in fish strikes over live shrimp...
If so that would be a large decline in my trip costs.

I try to supplement costs by catching poagies but they seem hit or miss compared to live shrimp always being attacked.

If you are on a school of trout or reds, you should be able to still catch a mess on those gulps. Sometimes you can catch more with the gulp. DOA shrimp are great also for trout. The gulp baits are pretty tough. 20 should get you through the day. If not...you have a good problem on your hands. FYI.....think about buying a screw on top tupperware container at wal-mart or wherever to put that jar of gulp into. It baffles me that the one bait that would need quality ziplock bags and good screw on jars, has the sorriest quality of both. If those gulps aren't sitting in the juice they will dry out and become useless. A cylindrical tupperware container with a screw on top works great, and will prevent any leaking.
