Well I finnally got my 14 footer out yesterday afternoon. laugh Started out on a southern point in this shallow lake with no luck on jigs, minnows or crank baits. Moved east to a rocky point that was holding bait fish. Tried minnows, jigs and cranks with no luck again. Finnished the night fishing over some brush piles near some docs. fish finder says we got fish under us, but they wont hit anything. bang Seemed like no one else did anygood either, but then everyone else was fishing for catfish. eek

On a positive note. B&B bait shop had a new lake record Black Bass in their tank. 11+ pounds, just waiting on the state bioligist. Seeks the young man caught it on a 1/8 oz crappie jig. eek eek

Maybe I'll try Aquilla next time.

I found the lake too late in the year last year to do much crappie fishing, did have good luck on bass (shhh). I did manage a couple of crappie by the concrete stack on the dam. I checked to boat ramp this past week and it should still be okay.

I was also at Aquilla in November, lake was real low then. We did get some good crappie there last spring.

All I have managed to catch at the dam are a couple of sandies. One was 14.5 inches and just stuffed full of eggs. I guess sandies are getting ready to spawn at alvarado. I did manage a few crappie from a dock on the south side of the lake. That was last week.

I have NEVER caught crappie at Alvarado but I am told they are there. I have been very successful on sandies and have had moderate success ono black bass; nothing really big but always manage to land a few.

Anyone who has has good knowlege of where they hold at this time of the year and would love to back seat during the weekday starting at 4:30pm sometime next week just shoot me an e-mail, or reply right here.

If you get a taker I want to follow you and your back seat partner around. I, too, simply have not been able to find crappie on Alvarado.

I went out yesterday and didn't get a bite. It's strange they won't allow brush-piles yet yesterday there were idiots moving/removing ski bouys. Doesn't seem right, especially on such a small lake.

About 10 of us went to Alvarado Saturday morning and fished from 7:00 to noon without so much as a good strike! Very muddy! It was, however, a beautiful day!
