foot control and I sit down fishing, especially when windy. Standing up chit is for the birds.

I've fished both ways for 35 years and currently have a foot control.
If you fish mostly open water hand controls are great. But you have to pay a lot more attention to the TM handle position when you get in Timber. I've had the Dawg slapped out of me by the TM handle at night when I hit a stump. Also since you are closer to the Bow's edge to opporate the hand control... if you hit something you have a lot better chance of going swimming.
In stump fields I prefer the foot control for the faster steering reaction time and when going after tangled up fish in brush you need both hands on the rod n reel. Since I like fishing tight to thick cover the foot control was my natural choice.
The newer foot controls have a lot less cable failure issues and YOU have the luxury of a Pro TM repair shop within walking distance.
It all comes down to what suits you and your style fishing. The only right TM is the one that works for YOU.

I've had both. Foot control only way to go.

What a good question. I have been having extreme back pains and I ordered the recessed tray for my trolling motor. I just looked at my boat and feel sick to my stomach because, to install the tray I have to cut into part of the front live well. I have only used the front live well once, when I first bought the boat. I came in and jumped on TFF to search for hand versus foot controlled. I guess I will not be installing the tray. I will need to hire someone who can block off the tray once it's installed. so, the front live well is in working order.

TFF Member North Texas Fiberglass in Denton would be my recomendation.
