A wind friendly lake in Texas is one that has a lot of protection from a South wind...ie...a lot of the lake runs East - West...then you can fish the South side and be ok

I dont think he can handle the waves running across the lake. This time of year you should be able to find a good spot to fish from the bank , thus allowing your dad the opportunity to catch crappie without the hassle of a rough boat ride . I caught my limit sunday and again tuesday fishing from the bank in water 3 to 5ft deep . I was casting into 20 plus mile an hour winds tuesday using a slip bobber weighted down to where only the very top of the bobber was visible , it was a blast . Winds were out of the south/southeast and I fished the northern end of the lake . Good luck , hope your dad recovers and prospers , especially while crappie fishing .

Lot's of places on Belton to stay out of the wind, both north and south.

DuckJerky has it right. In that sense, Grapevine is a pretty good lake to hit and close when the winds are howlin' outta the south. Texoma is another one.
