LOL..How do you determine an area that is holding big fish rather than little fish ?.. I would assume you know this because the time spent on the water and fishing a particular area.

Yes, but I don't have any bets right now. I'm saving up for the house. The bet will be back on within the next year.

Fished...and the bite was spotty for sure.

Cranks in 10 ft around grass and caught fish on a flutter spoon in 20 ft...had to mark bait and fish...and fish patiently in hot muggy conditions...the deck sounded better most of the weekend!

Its was just good to ge on the lake!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I hope the bite picks up quick too, but next week I am sure my guys will all want small fish. I will be in a tizzy all day. I will make it happen best I can but, I will be thinking about the big ones !
Good thing is I will be showing both ways. What I would do to catch a over and a under.Rockwall Ranger, I have spots that do just hold big bass and I have found that most time when you find small fish in a area that is what you get.Sometimes a big one will be around but big bass like to hang with big bass and the little ones like to hang with the little ones for the most part. There is nothing like time on the water !

+1 on that

Bigger fish should start showing up again REAL soon...hopefully before McDonalds. Lots of fish (and shad in transition right now). The fish we have been catching are small to middle slots. No big ones lately. Wish it would have stayed cool like last week instead of back into the mid 90's. That would have helped speed things along!

I found the bite to be pretty awesome all week, both for numbers and size. We looked for current breaks and cut banks on channel swings and caught the fire out of them. Water temps were running from 55 to about 65. Of course, that was cutthroat trout fishing in Idaho. Glad to know I picked a good time for vacation! wink

For Mark, James, Cameron, etc. All you guys talking abhout the fishing picking up, soon. Over the years, my experience has been that the fishing at Fork was very tough from about mid-September (when the lake typically begins turning over)until sometime in October. I'm curious as to why you think the fishing is about to improve?

Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

We took the Brother and Sister-N-Law out Sunday for a few hrs, gezz it was awful. Had one fish at 5-lbs deep 25+ foot.

Now the Friday before was awesome, nice fish up against the pads and grass early till 9-9:30 am then moved out to 17-25 foot and Kay tore me up, she had 3-over 6-lbs.. I must be losing it, that's two trips in a row I've been out big fished.. Rmax and now Kay.. LOL.
Honestly I don't seem to see a big drop off on the fish up shallow in the northern reaches around mid-Sept.
This year the grass and other non-native vegetation has caused an area blockage for me, you can't get back there anymore, the stuff is solid.
