Wanted to pass this along. When out on LL yesterday and passing mid-lake south of the new bridge, I thought I saw a huge school of large strippers surfacing. I grabbed my slab casting rod and decided to make a few casts. The darndest thing, these fish were long and after a close look, they were Gar about 2-4' long! Maybe a hundred or so. Not sure what type of gar however.
This was new to me and I wonder if anyone else has ever seen this?

Spawning around females. Saw it at Lake Aquilla last month.

Thanks. I really did a double take (maybe a triple take) on this one.

I have seen this on Grapevine. More like feeding then rolling. You hear the splashing and think its sand base only to find their long noses sticking up.

I saw a lot of them rolling around Sat on the Lake Dallas side. Proved a myth wrong: gar don't scare away crappie. Caught some nice keepers while gar were within 20 feet of either side of the boat.

Guess it's time for me to pull out my waders again. Good report.
