Hey Granger Anglers, I am from the Dallas area, but am going to be in Pflugerville Sun. the 20th. Was going to try Granger. Anyone need a fishing buddy or who doesn't mind a visitor tagging along. I really want to get on some crappie if possible, and I have NO idea where to fish on Granger since I've never been there before... Thanks

Man I finally got back to my pc this morning and was suprised to see so much talk on Lake Granger. DanielX sorry I am late on that question. Even though I would not have been much help..... Something must be biting behind the dam from observing all the vehicles parked there for the last two weeks, or eather their trying to hide from the wind. They are really letting that water out, sure makes for some tuff Crappie fishing. Was forced up the rive Sunday because of the high winds. talked to some catfishermen who did well. They had over 40lbs of cleand fish and they did fairly well on the whites to. But we did catch a Big Pontoon boat stuck in the trees in the river with a broke down motor, it put up a great fight as we pulled it all the way over to Friendship park....lol You can meet some really good fisherman that way...lol

Crappie C, No I don't know anything about the boat mechanic. I just found out about him this past week, only because I asked about the race boat that was parked in the front. Sorry about your boat, hope you get it fixed soon.

Hated to see the Granger thread die out, so I'll just keep it going with some gibberish. Hooked up my dad's Whaler on Mon. 14th and headed to the lake. Since my boat is out of commission, I wanted to make sure his is still in working order. Ran across the lake to the Secret Crappie Slough and Boy, was it on!! See Pic below Just Kidding!! My friends and I struck out. My best guess is with the coldfront and falling lake level, crappie fishing just STUNK !! These crappie were caught last summer...

Show Boy - Sorry man, I'll be out of town that weekend. I normally don't get consistent with catching numbers of crappie until about May or June. There are several other Granger experts on this board that might help you out. If the weather is right, the Fox Park fishing dock shoreline can be really good during the spawn. Good Luck....

Anyone target crappie on Granger out of a kayak? It sounds like some of the areas holding crappie would be a fairly short paddle from the various launch points.
Another question, if I may. When fishing for crappie in the shallow bank water, do you just cast jigs in to the bank and retrieve or actually float up to beds and vertically jig like for spawning bass?

I would be interested to know about kayak fishing for crappie as well. I have a kayak, and would love to catch some crappie out at Granger.
Tight lines

Hook'em,& Sportsman, I could see great advantages to kayaking for crappie on any lake. It looks like they float in inches of water. I usually fish with a sliding float with eather a jig or minnow set to what ever depth the water happens to be at the banks edge. Pitch it up near the bank or stump/stickup and wait for a few seconds if no takers move it a foot or two. Just keep working it on out. Get ready though, Ole Big mouth may test your equipment out every now and then...lol I myself am not real good at this. a little to much work for me....lol I would rather wait till they make it out to the main lake. (april) I'm a little more consistent then.
