While far from a bass fishing rookie I am a Drop-Shot rookie. Posted a question the other day and got great info. Went out yesterday on Granbury yesterday and tried. Only caught a few dinks but Granbury is hard to pattern in the summertime. Several questions came up while trying this new (to me) technique. Several people said after tying palomar knot to be sure to run the tag end back up through the hook eye. With the hook at a 90 degree angle from the line and the point facing up do you run the tag end back up through the bottom or around and through the top down? Also, what type sinkers are people using on the tag end. Thanks, 361V.

Run the tag end through the top.and I dont think the size of the weight matters, just enough to keep the line straight, some people fish straight down and some people cast and then the line is at an angle so bottom contact is important, then the wind and structure dictate the size of the weight.Anyway that is what I think

Any "drop shot" weight should work. Go google drop shot weight and you can see a picture if your not familar. Don't tie the weight to you tag end. Run it through and wedge it into the wire portion. It will hold the weight really well. I've seen some people tie a small knot at the end of their tag line so the line can't pull through the wedge.
If your weight gets hung while fishing, you can sometimes pull the line through that wedge and then you just replace the weigh instead of re-tying the whole set up. Hope that helps!

I use the Cylinder Snap Weights!! Run the Tag line back through the top of the eye so the point/barb is facing up! Whatever size leader I am using. . . usually 10-14 inches! Tie and Old Granny Knot in the line where u want to use the Drop Shot Snap Weights!! I usually use 3/16 through rocks and/or trees!! If it gets windy i like to move to a 1/4 or even 3/8 if its really windy!! I always take some needle noses and bend the cylinder weight so it has a bow in it!! Seems to me that it doesn't get hung up in the rocks or in the the "V" of 2 branches!! Just maintain bottom contact and shake your rod with a little loose line so that worm will Dance!!

One trick I have used is to find egg shaped split shot (Bass Pro) these will crimp on the line so when you get hung up just pulls the weight off and you do not have to retie all the time. Not afraid to throw in trees etc.

split shot are an effective and cheaper method of weighing the rig down to the bottom. Thanks to SkeeterRonnie for that tip!

cheap and it doesnt hurt to lose them, and you have more wieght sizes to play with... you can adjust very quickly to the depth, or wind.

Youngest son went to a residential addition pond late this afternoon. Said he lost count on dropshot fish. It truly can get addictive. We even use them in 2-3 feet of water sometimes.

Available ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhQA8dP9b9E Thanks for the video link. I just recently started fishing the drop shot and I love it. I now understand the proper way to tie the hook on. I was leaving out the last part about bringing the line back through the eye. Now I see why my dang ole hook layed down and how to prevent that now. My question is on the rigging of the worm. I have been using the Texas Rig, but the video shows something different. Which worm rig is best?

With the hook standing out straight all you need to do is nose hook the worm.Zoom finness worms work good or a zoom 4" watermelon/red works good.any watermelon color is usually good
