I am about a 10 year member of TFF but since retirement have not logged online for probably 3-4 years. I had this issue on the lake Monday and the first thing I saw related to me. I have a 4 blade stainless Mercury Trophy Plus prop on my 200 Opti Max and it is doing the identical thing. It will idle along ok either reverse or forward but attempt to plane off and she revs rpms like there is no prop connected. Could not even run it up on trailer. A mechanic told me it could have been the small vent plugs at base of prop but checked and none missing. Do Merc props have the same insert described for Johnny123's prop? Thnx ...../Mike)

The laser II usually has a rubber hub assembly. The trophy has the Flo Torgue II assembly.

BassnRoun, yes your Trophy may have the flo-torq hub in it. I think all the Trophy Plus props are Flo-torq. If you take the prop off and look at it from the back side you will know for sure. The plastic will be broken apart and you can just fish the broken parts out, go to a Mercury dealer and get the hub.

Yeah any prop can have the flo-torq hub in it. At the prop shop today the guy showed me a tempest prop that had on in it. I guess they can have either type in them. One nice thing with the flo-torque is if you spin one and have a extra in the boat you can replace it yourself and not have to take it anywhere. Also by having one it is more forgiving if you hit a stump. Thats what the guy at the propshop said.

Allison 1/Johnny123....Tnx for the info. I will pull the prop and check it out. Already called the dealer explaining problem and he did not offer any suggestions...just set up an appt for the work. You may have saved me some money. Appreciate it.

Laser II's can also have the flo-torq hub in it. the 2nd version has a rubber hub, but can be converted to flo-torq. hub.
trophy's are square bore also, only the original trophy is strictly rubber hub.
