I was out last Saturday...
Kings were thick on Rapalas, sardines, ribbon fish, and Snapper Slappers.
The closest shrimp boats was just short of 15 miles out, but there were plenty in the 30 mi. range.
Good luck!
Cheers,
tp

Hi bayranger. Don't know if this will help as we were a little farther out than you should try in a bay boat but here goes. My partner, son, son's buddy, and I hit Salvador Ridge last Sunday to see what we could come up with since snapper season is closed already. Passed up the shrimpers that were piled up at about 30 miles but started hitting them at around 48 miles. Found a couple that were holding chickens, sharks, and smallish kings. Picked up a keeper ling and broke off another at boat side. Had the biggest ling I have ever seen cruise past the boat with a few of her younger brothers. This thing was massive and would have easily gone 75 plus! At the ridge things were really quiet. I've never been out there that fish were not getting blasted on the surface until that day. Still was able to pick up another dozen or so kings, still smallish with the biggest around 20lbs. Tried some bottom drops on our b liner spot but only brought up small reds so put those rods away. Stopped at the SE Lump for a shot at some state water snaps but only got one that was legal. The water was blue at about 35 miles and there was very little weed or trash in the water. Hope this helps, Bert
