WHAT TYPE FO KNOT SHOUDL BE TIED WHEN USING A JIG AND PLACE I CAN FIND A PIC OF IT?

try the palomar or a loop knot. Any knot will work but you just want the jig to sit horizontal.

when i am fishing with a 1/16 or 1/8 jig do i need and extra weight?

That all depend on the current and depth you are fishing. With the 1/8 ounce you should not need any extra weight.

The one I learned (and use rarely) is called the Dropper Loop knot.

I have read several references to tying jigs so that they are "horizontal". How is this accomplished?

Tie a good tight knot like the polamar then slide the knot to the back of the eye. your line will have a curve in it but the jig should hang horizontal.

MrJu - If you are using 4-lb. test line, do NOT use a loop knot! I found out the hard way yesterday while crappie fishing that on a bigger fish, the line will break easily. Use a palomar knot and you don't need to use any additional weight with a jig. The lead head it has on it is sufficient. Just make sure the knot sits on top or back of the hook eyelet and NOT on the front of it. This will give the jig a more natural/balanced appearance in the water. ------------------
