As much as it shames me to admit it I have never been able to break the 2.5lbs mark for a largemouth Bass but I just recently have gotten serious and I am looking into a boat. But anyways does anyone know of a good guide service on a lake in west texas that could help catch a trophy size bass but does not mind explaining lure usage and presentation while doing it. I was thinking about OH IVIE but definitely open to suggestions.

If you're looking at Ivie, give Jeff Walker a call at Lucky Dog Guide Service- 325-357-4766. I too had a personal "record" of about two pounds until I started fishing with Jeff, now my best is 10-4!! Jeff knows Ivie and is an honest person. Ivie hasn't produced the last couple years like it used to, and if he's not finding fish he'll tell you right up front what to expect. Hope ya catch a big 'un!!

Call Concho Park Marina & ask for Rick Peeples phone number. Went out on a trip with him a couple of years ago - we caught 2 - 10+ fish.

JR Hookem is good also @ Alan Henry. Never fished with him but have heard some good things from folks. Meet him once @ the boat shop.

You can get a small 2 man boat or a tube and go to Lake Brady (during the week)in March. Go around the full moon either a week in front or behind. The lake gets hammered on the weekends that is why you need to go during the week. It is the best lake to catch fish between 5 lbs and 12 lbs in the State of Texas. The lake is only 2000+ acres but the lake fishes a lot bigger with all the shallow water stickup everywhere. I have seen 5 fish stringers go up to 36lbs and the top 20 having over 15 lbs. I caught a 10.11 lber out of the creek in 2003.

I second the vote (as bassfreak says) for Jeff Walker on Ivie. He is a great guy and really knows the lake well. He is honest, too. If he isn't catching fish he will tell you up front. My personal best (10.58 lbs.) came while him and I were out "fun fishing" in August of 2002. He is a personal friend, and I recommend him highly.

Rick Peoples is also a very good guide on Ivie. I have nothing bad to say reguarding his services because I have never personally used him. He isn't, however, the ONLY bass guide on the lake.
