I've got a boat house on west side of Cedar Creek. The water depth (now)is 3' out to 15'. I've got brush piles very shallow and in the middle in about 10'. Last year in April, we caught many at the 10' pile and then at the end of April we caught them in 4'. This year they seemed to skip the 10' pile and go straight the sea wall brush at 3' to 4'. I put a crappie condo at the end in 15' and am wondering a couple of things. First, how long would it take the crappie to start congregating at the condo. Second, what water depth for the most part will crappie spend the summer months?
Thanks for any input.

B.P., WillieFindum here,
If you will let me know were your dock is I would be glad to survey it for you, you way get other offers simaliar to this one but those guys just want to fish out your dock.
Kidding aside, crappie may move onto the condo within and hour or it may be two weeks depending what other cover is available to them. As the summer progresses the crappie will hold on the deeper side. 4' will be too hot, between 10' & 15' will hold fish most of the time. As has been stated in other posts a dock may hold fish all the time or only some of the time during the a day.
Keep us posted.

once a condo is layed out it won't take long for them to congregate. sometimes as little as a couple of hours. and other times a day or 2. as far ar summer goes you should catch more in the deeper water because of the temp at the lower levels. but also remember that the shaded side of your dock will hold fish hope this helps you out. smile smile

These guys give good info. As the summer gets hotter, you should catch crappie in the deeper brush piles and condos. Watch out giving up the location of your dock though because these guys get to fish all the time. Now you can tell me where your dock is because I only get over there once every couple of weeks and I would just be locating the crappie around your dock and giving you a good count.LOL!!! laugh
