I have been jonesing to get out on the river and try out some of the new products that Scott Yager at Striped Bass Tackle www.sbt4u.com had recently sent me. I had a little spare time one evening this week after wrapping up a guide trip on the Brazos and grabbed a handful of the Big Hammer swimbaits http://www.sbt4u.com/Soft-Plastics/Big-Hammer-Swimbaits-p10.html, a couple of 1/2 oz. 3D Shad jig heads http://www.sbt4u.com/Jig-Heads-c4/ and jumped in the yak to hit a couple of runs before I went to go make camp. I must say, the craftsmanship, quality and action were just what I had in mind from a hand poured plastic. Apparently, it was just what this big girl had in mind as well... I have no doubt the full line of Striped Bass Tackle baits will be extremely effective on river stripers once the weather cools off. However, I'm going to be feeding them to some oversize river bass in the meantime. Striped Bass Tackle www.sbt4u.com . Getcha some!!!

You know I wouldn't hold out on ya, man! Yes, that fish came from the same general area and measured out just under 25". Fact is, the LMB that Sheena fought and eventually broke off was definately in the same class as the bass pictured. I got a good look at her the one time she came out of the water about 10 feet from our kayaks. I estimated the bass to be in the 22 to 24" range. That was a heartbreaker...

Depending on the time of year, probably 7-9# plus.
This fish was kind of skinny, typical for this time of year, which would put it on the lower end of the scale.
