Hey Guy, I can get you one of those OU hats if you'll quit chasing flatheads and put me on some crappie!!!!
Yep, I'm living proof you can bring in a 21# cat on 6# line and that was caught shooting a dock that had a mess of lure grabbers under it.
Now that I know everything Guy knows, think I'll start guiding!!! Anyone want to book a trip!~!~

Guy, your thought for the week is very "Pauline." Heaping burning coals upon their heads. A nice read as I wrap up a Sunday evening!

They are so close! Fished around my boathouse on CC in between "Honey Do's". Caught 7 really nice crappie (14" or better) in about 4 feet of water. In just a little while it will really cut loose.

Bob,
No thanks...I don't want to be mistaken for an 'okie' eek laugh .

Bailey,
You're right...fishing is gonna get real good (better), real quick, especially if the weather is good this week. A few days of sun and warm is all that is needed.

BTW, if anyone is interested in a trip to Cedar Creek this week, I have Friday the 11th open.

I seriously doubt you caught a 60-70lb flathead on that gear...a flathead that big would rip that gear apart....i think this is a fishy story...

Thanks for popping in and giving us your thoughts for your first post.....I mean WOW....How can we ever thank you for coming in here and questioning one of the most admired and trusted guides we have on here? Just let me be the first to say...thanks....

Now, for all of those who have caught big flat heads on jigs and 6 to 8lb line.....we all know it can be done,,,,I think Billy Seaman had one that was 30 to 40 lbs on ultralight line, 6 lb and a wally marshall rod that he battled and followed with the trolling motor for 45 minutes a couple years ago.

Now for you that doubt and posted this reply....go and look at the IGFA records of line class and tell me how the flathead stacks up with some of the fish caught and landed on light gear.

The only thing I can say is a lesser angler would have lost any of those fish. It takes skill, patiance and the ability to work the fish and follow to wear it down to land it on light tackle.

If you have plenty of water and have your drag set right you can do it. I would have put more thought into my first post instead of calling someone a liar. wink

usaborn,
I caught a 53 lb flathead on light line. It took about 1hr and 15 minutes to get him to the boat. It was all in open water. I had to use the trolling motor to stay with him because he used all the line on my spool. When the fish began to tire he floated with a little assistance to the surface. The only trick was to get the net on him, as soon as you touched him he became very lively in the net.

Is anyone having trouble today seeing Guy's pictures??

You sure know how to make friends don't you. I think others would agree, this board does not need trouble makers such as yourself. If you don't like/agree with a post, just keep it to yourself.

isnt a forum for sharing opinions, stories, advice, etc...?

simply because i dont agree with or believe somebodys story..that makes me a bad guy?

Are you saing that if somebody did post on here that they caught a great white shark from a local lake..that i would be wrong to tell them that i dont believe them?

I used to be a skeptic too!!! But pictures are worth a thousand words. These men fish regularly, I mean 4-5 days a week. More time on the water more chances to catch big and better stringers of fish.

If you dont believe what they are saying look for yourself on the search of thier posts.
