Fished Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Cedar Creek this week. Caught very good size crappie all three days, but Thursday was the best for numbers. We had a front come through on Friday morning and fishing got tough after that. Still caught some good fish and fished with some good (and interesting) guys. Thanks guys for booking with me.

Fished Thursday with Bubba and James (the hat might give you a clue as to who's 'Bubba' wink ). We had to work hard, but they took home a 48 qt. cooler full of crappie

Friday it was Bob (L) and Larry (R). Fishing was good until the front and rain came in, but these guys made up for it with non-stop laughs and 'jabs' at each other's ability at fishing. And Bob, we really won't hold it against you for wearing that hat rolleyes

And yes, I continued my record of catching as many 'pounds' of catfish as I do crappie on trips. This flathead weighed 21#....on 6# Mr. Crappie line.

Saturday I fished with Mike. We had to fish hard and cover a lot of water, but we managed some very respectable fillets for Mike and his family.

And, your's truly showing off my new Wally Marshall Mighty Lite 7' and WM Pro Series 30 reel. Wally told me I would like them......and I'm headed to BPS today for a 'few' more

Wishin,
Nope...the flathead is still swimming around Cedar Creek. So far this year at Cedar Creek, I have caught a 60-70# (scale only goes to 50#) flathead, a 21# flathead, a 12# flathead and a 5# blue....all on crappie jigs, all on 6# Mr. Crappie hi-viz line and all on Wally Marshall crappie poles. I gotta stop this nonsense, cause I'M A CRAPPIE GUIDE eek eek .

What is the lake record for the tackle you were using to catch the catfish ? You might have had a lake record and did not know it.

Guy
How does your Might Lite 7' rod shoot jigs under docks compared to your 5'6" (cutoff) Wally Marshall rod? Distance? Accuracy? Consistency?

Thanks
Charlie

Way to go Guy! It was good to see ya out there on Saturday while I was fishing with Ernest. Mud-dabber- the crappie are still mostly in more than 10ft of water. There are some being caught shallow but by the end of this week I would expect there to be more shallow fish. I'll be out this week and report on if they are shallow in great numbers yet.

Mud-Dabber,
Most were caught at about 12'. Caught some at 6', but none shallower. If we get some sunny weather for a few days...LOOK OUT laugh .

Jig Head,
Wally asked me to use the 7' for dock shooting, and I have to admit that I didn't have much confidence that I'd like it. But I did give it a try, and it works very well. The tip (as expected) was considerably lighter than I was use to, but the accuracy was better, so it was a good trade-off. I plan to get a 6' Mighty Lite to try, to see if I like it better for shooting. All in all, the new series of rods get an A- (tad light on the tip) from me. But, I like them. Afterall, that 21# cat could have done lots of damage to a lesser rod. I've gotta say that I was also impressed with the new Pro Series reel. I bought the 30 series (biggest size) on a "what-if"...and I think I might change to that size. The reel performed as good as any that I've used. Drag was smooth (on the flathead), and the overall reel performance was VERY smooth. Gets an A+ from me.

Guy, Can I be your enemy, Then you can forgive me while you take me fishing. That will surely mess with my head.

Great catch. Keep the info and pictures coming. Hope to see you on the lake sometime.

Its killing me seeing the catches coming from CC while I have been working the past three days. Leave some fish for me please.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

Those new Wally reels do look nice. Much nicer than the old ones (and those weren't bad either).

Nice catches.

FISHED THURS WITH TFF MEMBER AND HIS FATHER-IN-LAW. CRAPPIE IN LATE AFTERNOON AND SANDBASS UNDER THE LIGHTS. CAUGHT SEVERAL CRAPPIE BUT THE SANDBASS FAILED TO COOPERATE, ONLY ABOUT 10.

FRIDAY FISHED EARLY FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, QUIT WHEN THE FRONT CAME THRU WITH 6 NICE CRAPPIE FROM THE BRIDGE.

SAT. FOR A CHANGE OF PACE INVITED CHUCK (NATIVE TEXAN) TO FISH FOR CATFISH. CAUGHT 10 IN ABOUT AN HOUR UNDER BIRD ROOSTS. WENT EXPLORING CREEKS
THEN HIT A FEW DOCKS FOR 12 NICE CRAPPIE.
FISHED OFF MY DOCK FOR 7 MORE NICE BLUE CATS.

SUN., INVITED JOHN VARNER FOR A MORNING OF SANDBASS CHASING. FINISHED AT 1:00 PM WITH 198 MIXED SANDBASS/HYBRIDS.

HAVE AN ALL DAY CRAPPIE TRIP SCHEDULED TOMORROW. HOPE THEY START BITTING BETTER BY THEN.
