Went out this morning and launched from Gou Hole Road( free public boat ramp). If you know how to navigate cotton lake it is okay, very shallow and alot of trees in the water since the hurricane. I did not have any problems getting out to the bay. Followed the north shore line east towards Anahuac. Found some great spots. I was fishing shallow today even though the water is hot. I got almost to the mouth of the trinity river and ran across schools of flounder. In about 18" of water they were hitting the top of the water and turning everywhere. The schools were around for about 30 minutes then just gone. Got 5 in the boat, biggest 21" which will be dinner tonight. Pulled the anchor and drifted a little further and got into a couple red fish. I could see them in the water, little mud clouds everywhere. threw a couple free shrimp out there and caught several 18 - 19.5" fish which was very aggravating( only because I threw them back, we all know how good they would have been on the half shell) I started throwing a gold spoon and caught 2 keepers. (biggest only 23") All and all a good day fishing today in trinity bay except the wind kicked up crazy out of the south and my 19' modified v had a tough time on the way home because a straight cross wind. Lots of fun though, hope you guys caught fish too.

Can you get a decent sized boat in at Gou Hole? Been through there in my kayak but scared to try with my center console. It kills me to live that close and not be able to put in there. I sure would appreciate any info.

Great report. Trinity Bay in the fall on a dry year....doesn't get any better than that.

Fished upper/east Trinity last week Thur & Sat morn & yesterday morn. Also have caught many undersize Reds & a few undersized Specs. Did catch 7 or 8 Reds over 20", 4 keeper Specs (one 23"), have not seen a Flounder. What's been great though is have caught most all keepers on topwater.

I have an 19' Center Console Baymaster, somewhat shallow boat but older and I didn't have any problems, you need to trim up and stay on a plane but running through the middle of the bayous to get out to the bay is not that bad, once you do get to the bay though it is pretty shallow for about 150 yards

Well when I go later this week, maybe thursday, I'll have to try top waters, nothing better than catching a bunch of keepers on top waters

Yea, I'm gonna try to be there at the crack of daylight in morning myself, throwing that topwater.
