Out of port o'conner i heard a rumor the weedline is approx 30miles, humm. I never seen it out that far. Been out twice last month 22 miles. didn,t find it. Any 1 seen it?

I've talked to folks that have been 70 or more miles and seen little or no seaweed. I think the currents and wind didn't bring it into the gulf this year.

I'm heading down on Fri 8/28 and will be there for the following week 'til Sun 9/07.

We'll be heading out at least 45 miles each day and up to 75 miles. Just depends on where the fish are.

70 miles? But I only have a 61 gallon fuel tank!

I was out just over 30 miles from Port A last week and never saw more then a single piece of weed. I have heard that if you can find anything floating out there, its likely to be loaded with dolphin.

Okay, looks like i might be taking my own pieces of cardboard,lol. I'll find those rascles. Leaving in the morning but i won't launch till after 2:00pm. Just making bait for thursday. I'll be sure to get back with yall with results on Friday.

Salty, I would love to hear your reports, I have a group of us going down to POC labor day weekend. Right now we have two boats and possibly a 3rd boat. The boats are small and we generally go to the first rig, however we are thinking if we have 3 boats, and the weather gods are with us, we might venture a little farther. I have punched in 5 or 6 gps locations up to 16 miles out of different rigs that we have never tried before. My hope is that we hit a rig that is not fished as much as the first rig.

I was reading a report somewhere here on the forum that suggested that their has really not been many good weedlines out in the gulf this summer.

WOW, found glass seas in the GOM. We went to liberty reefs(21 miles) making 26 knots on the way out. Arrived at the ships about 6:45am trolled across for about 20 min. without a bite. Made anchor and bottom fished for 3 1/2 hours. Found it a little tough to get past triggers most of the drops (live bait would make it). Picked up 3 vermillon and 12 nice red snaps. 1 cobia. 1 black tip. We did keep a few of the bigger triggers. The Sun was getting unbearable for the lack of any breeze, so we trolled to and around just about every rig on the northwest heading. Never even heard a click. But found a rip about 8 miles off, still no weeline. Back at the dock at 3:00 pm. Ohh, i forgot to mention 19 mile rig found 2 shrimp boats moured which traded 60lbs of shrimp for a 12 pack, Made the day!!

Not trying to be snotty but want to point out that red snapper season in Fed waters is closed.
