Are Catfish like Bass in the sense that the bite will slow down after a storm? or do they just bite when they bite...?

catfish are fickle. Conditions have to be right. Read up on some of tiny's stuff. Temperature changes they move, wind changes, the move, storm comes through, they move. I think its more you have to know where the cats are going to go to get bites or they wont be there. Its more of a matter of needing the cats to be there where your fishing than whether the bite slows down. If your fishing a shallow spot before the storm, of course the bite will slow because they are going to move further out when the storm rolls through. No fish, no bite.

I don't think fronts affect catfish near as much as bass and crappie. The pressure change really messes those scaley fish up at times. But before a storm or a front the fishing is usually really good.

After a good 1" hard rain I hit the creeks as they rise and tear the cats up.

Pound for pound catfish fight harder than bass. I found that water temp, moon phase and fronts often mess up the catfish. You can tear them up for an hour then like a switch they stop. You can fish for hours without a bite and like a switch your tearing them up. If anyone really knew they would be gazillionairs.

I have noticed that they will move to a different location but once you find them they will usually bite. Bass will sometimes shut down even if you find them or they will at least get finicky. Pound per Pound a flathead catfish will fight harder than a channel or blue

After a good 1" hard rain I hit the creeks as they rise and tear the cats up. Amen!! If you got alot of wind from the storm, hit the points. The cats are still feeding, you just have to figure out where. Bass and Crappie go for cover. Find the cover, slow down your presentation and the bite will still be on. Also after a hard rain, worms. They get washed into the water from the rain run-off. Wind sturrs up the bottom, a good stinkbait. The cats then are feeding on scent because the water has been dirtied up from the wind. Alot of people will tell you they feed on scent all the time, yea, they do, but after a good wind or during, I found out it is more common.

During and after a storm we throw just beyond the roil of muddy water and get hit by every species in the lake!
I fish Texoma.

When the storms blow in I normally will switch over to catfishing and move up into the creek arms that have water flowing into them. Catfish will gather there waiting for all the dead stuff that has been rotting upstream to get washed down to them where they go on a feeding frenzy.
If your fishing wind and not the rain then look for the cats where the bait has been blown and trapped.
