If by "pier" y'all mean the Ray Roberts marina/fishing barge, it's a nice place to go, but is not fully enclosed and is only in about 10-12' (at least last year). There are also a few open boat slips immediately near it (don't remember when they last brushed any of it since it's been about a year since i've fished thee) and the crappie fishing can be good, but the lighting isn't great and the place can be dirty or trashed out, especially after weekends (like Weatherford's). Still, it's usually less crowded and the lady that works the store nearby where you pay is really nice. --BigCat AgAlum93'

10-12' of water I meant to say, who knows what it is now, but it's at least only about 3-4' low, while the others around the area are much lower.

Thats the marina. The fishing pier is in the Isle De Bois State Park. The marina used to be a great place to fish when they brushed it out. Havent been to the marina in a couple of years.

Tracey, Thanks for the clarification. I know where the park you're talking about is. Maybe I just wasn't in the part the pier was in. I apologize. As for the marina, I like it, but more when they start to move up for the full spawn. As for brushing it, I'll ask the owners next time to go. I may go up there next time I go jiggin', as the report states they are being caught around marinas. --BigCat AgAlum93'

Do they "brush" the pier, Tracey? I'd be willing to try it in the mornings/evenings if they do with some jigs.
Where exactly is Murrell Park on Grapevine Lake? Used to fish Twin Coves Park N of the dam back a long time ago in the Spring/Fall with minnows and usually did pretty good on both bass/crappie.

I may try it in the morning if it's not too nasty. I wanted to call them today but didn't get around to it.

About a year and a half ago we used to fish the pier 2-3 nights a week. We always managed 6-12 keepers, half sandbass, half crappie. All of our fish came off minows though. We never used jigs. Right off the end of the pier is a good spot. Also, as you walk out there, you will notice splits/gaps in the walkway (not sure what they are called)so often. If you walk to the last gap before the end of the pier, and fish off the left hand side, there is some brush down there that a guy said he dropped a while ago. That used to be a pretty good spot, but like I said, that was 18 months ago.

The marina fishing dock was brushed several years but the nuetrals( what ever they call those swimming cats) carted it all off for their dens.

Go to Murrell park on Grapevine. I left you directions on your other post. Is there a place to catch crappie at murrell park? I've caught bass, sandbass, and catfish but never crappie.

EJM - Murrell Park is just to the East of Twin Coves. There is only bank fishing there. No docks, etc.

PhilR,
Thanks. Same goes for Twin Coves (at least back then). Mom would have my buddy and I do all the carrying (course, we were strong, young men back then). It was bank fishin' as well, but I remember this elevated cliff/rock that was about 10' above the water that we'd straight line off of. We used to kill em off that thing, but the tough part was reelin' them up to the cliff's edge. :p

Thanks folks.
I'm thinking of taking out my 5 1/2 yr old with me after the Stars/Wings game later this afternoon. The pier would be taking on a pretty good headwind, so i'd likely take her to RayBob Marina, though I think LL Barge is safer with it's railings on the tanks/walkway and all.
