Trophy Bass Lodge is about to fire up for another season. We are going to open October 1st, and the word from the lake is that the water looks great. We have not had as much rain as in previous years, which I actually prefer. I think the lake fishes much better on the lower level, so I expect the fishing to be awesome. We had to close early last season due to the swine flu, so the first group that gets to the lake will be the first fishermen on the water in almost 6 months! So here is the deal: Book your trip to Trophy Bass Lodge by August 31st (to fish anytime between October 1-May 31) and get the fourth day free! Thats a savings of $350! This trip usually goes for $1,600, but if you book by August 31st your in at $1,250! Huites is thought to be the HOTTEST LAKE IN MEXICO right now, and I agree for sure. Shoot me a message if you would like more info! http://www.lakehuitesmexico.comBrett

That was a hot spot for Alan Warren on his shows (Allen Warren Outdoors, The Chevy Sportsman). Does anyone know what happened to him? I loved watching this guy. He came into my store one day when I had worked for Blockbuster Video back in the day and he was quiet as a mouse, but his wife and daughter were VERY polite and super warm. Of course, I was acting like an idiot, seeing one of my fishing hero's in person. Guess I'll have to Google the guy. Miss his shows. Steven

I don't know where Alan is these days....good question. I need to ask Keith, he still comes down and films at our lodge on Huites almost every year. Great guys, both of them.

Is Keith his brother? I could know I saw a hunting show one time with a guy that I could have sworn was Alan's brother. Would love to see Alan on the tube again. Keep me posted, Brett! Steven

I fished with Alan in 2004 on El Salto, nice guy.
Brett, I spoke with David this morning and looks like I will be going down around the 1st week of October to test the new Huites Copper Canyon phase of plastics. I would love to have some company from a few TFF members. Maybe they could help with the teting and get a good report on the lake as it opens.

I agree with Brett that this should be an excellent season for the best lakes in Mexico...El Salto, Baccarac, and Huites El Salto continues it's major comeback and is once again producing tons of 5 to 8 lb fish, along with frequent 9 to 12's, and several over 14 lbs before we closed for the Summer in July. We opened our brand new lakeside lodge on our existing El Salto property last season and our clients are loving it. With our Ranger boats just steps away from your room, excellent food, drink, and hospitality...we offer the best overall experience and value on El Salto. To make things even better and to help anglers experience our new lakeside accommodations, we are offering a great incentive this season. For the same price as our standard 4 night/3 day all inclusive package, you can stay an extra night and fish an extra day FREE... that's 5 nights and 4 full days fishing for the price of our standard 4N/3D pkg! If you can't fish 4 days, give me a call and I'll make you a great deal on a 4N/3D pkg. I honestly believe that this will be one of the best seasons we have seen at El Salto in 6+ years...and I know that many others agree. Baccarac continues to pump out the monsters, and after last year's high water and shad explosion, the numbers should return to "normal" this Fall...and for those of you who have fished it, you know how mind blowing it can be with 80-100 fish days, combined with all of the double digit toads, and legitimate shots at fish over 15 pounds on any given day. Give me a shout or email me anytime if you have questions, need more information, want to talk about dates and availability, or want updated, no BS, fishing reports. I agree Doug, and just found out Huites is around 55% full pool. Can you imagine all those bass in half the water???? YYYIIIKKESSS! El Grande wants to head down first of October, who else wants to be the first to fish Huites in months??? I cant wait to try those new baits out.....last one you gave me produce one between 9 and 10 pounds back in February! If you want to go with us contact me ASAP. If you want to go to El Salto or Baccarac, give Doug a call. He runs a great operation. He even promised to let me come see his place on Baccarac this year!

Brett, hurricane Jimena spinning toward Baja, Sea of Cortez, and Mexico West coast....should dump some nice rain on all the west coast Mexican lakes...Salto, Baccarac, and Huites....so I suspect you won't be at 55% for too much longer. The way it is tracking, I think we will get some nice rain at the lakes and surrounding mountains...but not TOO MUCH, I hope. Looks like a "good" hurricane from a Mexican bass fishing standpoint.
I spoke to El Grande today and am looking forward to using his baits also, and getting them in our client's hands this season....great baits and AWESOME custom Mexico colors to match the forage/baitfish!!!
YES! Brett, you are welcome anytime at our Baccarac or El Salto operations. I would like to visit you guys at Huites also, so maybe we can do a combo trip and field test El Grande's baits at all three lakes!
Call me anytime...480 491 9300 or 866-FISHMEX
Best regards,
Doug

Sounds like a plan Doug, is this a BYOB (Bring your own Baits) get together?
I look forward to fishing all three lodges within the next 12 months. Let's see what the hurrican brings us.

I'll certainly bring some secret weapons, but am really more interested in fleid testing your stuff!!!
Hurricane results are favorable for El Salto & Baccarac....nice rains with no big wind. Talked to some guides at both lakes today. The off season fishing has been great lately, according to the guides, with good numbers of 4-8 pounders and some nice double digit toads to 13+ in 25-30 feet right now. Should be excellent fishing this Fall when we open back up in October.
