Woke up @ 3am & on the road by 4. Launched the boat about 5:30 @ LM & the wind just started cranking. Hmmm, 5-10mph yeah right! We had about 30 minutes to throw under the lights for bait. Well, long story short, I suck at catching shad. Saw Brian heading north towards Soldier but decided to head west looking for lure fish since Chris has been getting them on lures out that way. Found acres of surfacing fish in the river channel east of north island and pretty much stayed w/ these fish all the way to the cross. These were mostly small fish but about 1 out of every 5 was a good box fish. We caught them all on TNT 180s holo & white/chart. Tried a coho but nothing so went back to slabs. Decided to go look for some bigger fish & just could not find any. Ran into a guy having some starter issues & towed him to the Highport boat ramp. 5 minutes later a gentlemans quarter million dollar Fountain center console floated away from him at the dock so we pushed it back in for him. We thought for sure that these 2 good deeds may be rewarded w/ some bigger fish but the best we got was a brief rain shower which started some surfacing action right out in front of Highport and once again small fish. Even tried trolling for the bigger fish & all we got was a big ole skip jack / herring or whatever those nasty fish are. We had also made some gar lures & were going to try to catch some of these in the afternoon when the striper bite quit & we looked everywhere for them but none to be found. You see gars all the time until you actually have the lures made up & then you cant find one . Great day on the water w/ a good friend, caught fish, and burnt a lot of gas. Just wish we could have found some bigguns! Brought home 10 good box fish & 1 nice blue cat for the pan. Sunrise Partial box Skip jack / herring / golden eye or whatever. My buddy Kurtis always seems to catch these! That is a nasty fish!

It was a good day to be out on the water. There were fish blowing up everywhere that day all over the lake. Big thread fins helped weed through the little fish. Thats a nice looking skip jack, you should of had him mounted

Yeah, it was nice being back on Big T. A little windy to start but it got real nice in the afternoon. We caught a lot of Stripers just not much w/ any size. Oh, the better box fish that we kept were very healthy for this time of year. Did you guys do any good on bigger fish?

We caught a lot of 20" fish on anchor in 45 ft. of water. All nice fish in that school. Brian
