New to the area originally from Aransas Pass. Awesome forum .....my question is what line are you all using on the mettle? I am going to buy 2 of them and use them for worm and jig.

I use 12# Trilene XL or 12# Sufix Pro Mix. They are both very limber and have very little memory.

I bought a mettle yesterday at academy in plano. Picked up an American rodsmith rod MH 7' to go with it. Total for the package was around $106. I casted it last night in the back yard and it was smooth. My only dislike is that I have trouble putting the side plate back on after adjusting brakes. I feel like im going to brake it.
Anyone esle have trouble with the push button side plate?

H2O Mettle is not the best reel made by any stretch....but it may be the best value in a solid baitcaster. IMO

IMO I agree I usually take someone with me that may not have their own equipment, so its nice to have some decent rod/reels for them to use that wouldnt be a total loss if they got dropped in or damaged.
