This is been subject that over the past several months has had some very heated discussions with name company bashing, rep bashing, name calling and the list keeps going. Im really not sure why the Moderator even let it get to that point. There are Rules set up in all the other Forum Lists for posting.
It really gets old after a while. This site should be for quality information so that you could choose the product that is right for you. I like Ive said before is that 99% of the problems is USER ERROR, and no one likes that phase , but is very correct. But then there is the true problems with the units that are dealt with by customer service, handled in a very professional manner.
Heres the facts that a lot of people REALLY forget. All the manufacturers out there only offer a 1 year warranty. Let me say that one more time--1 year warranty. Some of them offer and extended warranty if you purchase it--up to three years. Lowrance does offer 2 years with the HDS products.
The point--every unit on your boat that was on it last year is out of warranty unless you purchased the extended warranty and then probably most of them are out.
Why does every one that has a problem after that time get on the phone and call the manufactures and expect a new unit from them? Take it back to where you bought it and let them warranty the unit. See what Bass Pro or Cabelas tell you. Dont like that answer. Then the person gets on the site and bashes the product. I dont get it. Do you really expect that to happen? Do you expect that 3 top 10 year old unit to be replaced? If you do your in a dream world. Most of the units there are no parts available. I would like all my units replaced, that quit working, replaced for free too.
There is no other company out there that does this. Go deal with Yamaha, Mercury, ATT, Dell, HP, GM, Ford. Where do you post and bash these companies? Ive had to deal with all these companies. When the warranty is up --YOU PAY. Get your credit card or check book out and the clock starts to tick. $45- $90 per hour. You know what , they dont even guaranty that they will fix it.
Why should this be any different for Lowrance or Humminbird?
The same post pops up time after time. I called Lowrance and it takes 30 mins. to get to talk to a person that didnt fix my problem. Did you go to the Lowrance site and click on SUPPORT and find the problems that you are having? The answer is there and it gives you details and pictures how to handle it. Every question that has been asked is on the site with the answer. I know , its easier for you to pick up the phone, call and expect free service for an out of warranty unit, clog the phone lines a question that is right in front you. Lowrance and HB needs to set their sites up so that when you call you have to enter a product # and a serial # and that would direct you to the correct person and problem, ask you for your credit card. Now what would you like to do?
Lowrance reps and HB reps monitor these sites regularly and a few of us forward these posts on to the people that can handle the problems. They hear you, but Im not sure that any company is willing to replace your out of warranty unit for fee.

OK, from now on if anyone has a problem with Lowrances customer service, keep in kind it's just user error.
Dude, I have no idea who you are (you apparently feel you are really high on the food chain) but when you say that 99% of the problems are user error, you are flat out full of it. Your posts aren't really that helpful when they essentially just point out that the rest of us are idiots.
I STILL STAND BY MY STATEMENT that any customer should be able to get a reasonable response from the company that profited from the sale WITHOUT having to know the secret phone number or contact.
Or are we not doing the customer service thing right either?
