Ive read the many many threads on here and figured the San Louis Pass and areas around that are good spots to go and my dad and I are looking to fish on saturday before we leave for a cruise on saturday.

what Im trying to ask is the jetties off of seawall along the beach. is this a good place to fish? its easier to get to and figured if all else fails we can go swim.

what should we use for bait? shrimp? I wont have my cast net or anything so I cant really catch baitfish. does the academy down their off of seawall sell bait?

how much weight should i use? what setup? carolina or something similar?

I know its a little late to be asking but have been busy getting ready for everything else. ALLL help will be greatly appreciated. everything will be catch and release since I doubt the cruise will like us bringing fish on.

Come on. Im not asking for secret spots or anything. just simple pointers on which way we should look to go. only looking to have a good day of fishing with my dad whether we catch 100 fish or 1 fish either way and since last time he was down fishing in Galveston was with his dad off the fishing pier he cant really give much advice about where to go and what not

TR4, this section is a little slow, you should really post this a few days in advance if you want better responses. Wish I could help you out with some spots, but Ive only fished around Matagorda when I am in the gulf.

If you get back on the forum...I was down there after the hurricane and went to walmart bought some jigs with plastic trailers and tore up those spanish macs and trout like it was nothin. Those spanish macs scuffled pretty hard on the light rod and reel I had for crappie fishin. Be sure to buy some steel leaders cause they will break your line every time. Just fish off all the jetties.

go to academy - get you some Gulp artificial shrimp, rattling popping corks, split shot and some large curl tail white grubs with 1/4oz white lead heads.

Rig the Gulp shrimp 2-3 ft under a rattling popping cork. Use a single hook and a split shot or two. get about 30-40 ft or better from the rocks on the pier - pop and drift it with the waves. if a speck is around, you'll find him. if that doesn't work, use the lead head and grub (no cork or anything else). Tip the hook with a little dead shrimp. bounce it off the bottom as close to the rocks of the piers as you can without hanging up. you probably wont find numbers, but you'll just about always run into a few flounder that way.

a good place to do both these is the san luis pass pier (south side of the pass). if your line gets cut, wire leader - you're into macks.

good luck...
