Finally got a chance to just go fish. First time in at least 2 months. We let our hair down and just had a ball. Got on the water at 8:00p.m. and hit docks for hybrids and got skunked. We hung a few nice fish, but lost them. Marlin killed the black bass. A stout wind all night made fishing difficult. We settled in on some rocks out of the wind in 10ft of water and caught 75 nice eating sized channels. Put the boat on the trailer at 2:00am. and got some much needed sleep. Had to be back in Dallas by noon so we hit some areas I had not hit in a long time. Came away w/ a limit of crappie and a limit of sandies in about 3 hours. Biggest crappie of the year for me. 4 fish went over 2lbs on the digital scale. All crappie were caught on Jigum' Jigs in black and pink. Sandies were caught on Bomber slabs with walmart jigs tied 14" above and catfish were caught on punch bait fished over soured wheat. All in all a pretty good trip. I had a ball fishing w/ Brett and Marlin. Most fun i've had in a while. I've got a feeling these guys are coming back to Cedar Creek. FYI - fishing for crappie was actually VERY slow. We caught every one of our crappie in ONE place. All other places had almost NO crappie. Had to get out and push the boat to get it on the trailer. That was not too cool, but worth it I guess.

Pan, great to have you on the forum. You'll get endless resources here. 3 people fishing. Cedar Creek. Let's see, totals on the day... Catfish 75+ Crappie 50 Sandies 25 I wish we could have fished at least half the day. We only had 3 hours this morning to nail them...when you have a 6 week baby at home, you take what you can get.

Way to GO ...........Guys

Mike,
good to hear from ya. I was thinking about ya as the last time that I actually "fished" was with you guys. I think that was back in August or so.
Brett and Marlin had never crappie fished at CC, but I think they are "hooked." Actually, they had more fun catfishing than anything else.
I had my tail between my legs the first 4 hours Friday night as we caught nothing more than a bunch of spray from the high seas. It was quite comical because I talked up how great night fishing was...and we ended up catching absolutley NO hybrids or sandies. I thought it was going to end up being a bust.
It wasn't until we settled in on the rocks for the channels that we actually caught fish. Of course, once the cats got into the freenzy, they bit every 20 seconds. We had slime and blood flying everywhere for about 2 hours.

That was a while back, need to do it again. I'm sure the guys will be back for those crappie. Plus I bet once the catfish bite started they forgot all about not catching much for 4 hours. We need to get back out there and try those rocks, I assume they are the ones you showed me the last time out.

...you've got a photographic memory! We tightlined them in 10ft of water. Just about any rip rap in CC will hold catfish. Catching a day w/ lots of clouds will help catch fish. Rocks like these work well...
