Hey guys I am hoping that one of you can help me. Over the last couple of days, any time I am driving my 2003 Dodge Quad cab, there is a ding (chime) but no lights come on my dash telling me what the problem is. My truck starts and runs excellent, had oil changed 75 miles ago, and all lights are working. Does anyone know what this might be? Thanks,

Jodi

There's no telling. Take it to Auto Zone or the Dodge dealership and have them scan the 'puter for trouble codes. I had an '03 Dodge 1500 that would display the "check engine" light every so often. Then it would go out. Had the computer scanned several times and they never could find a trouble code nor could they determine what caused the light to come on.

I have the exact same problem. Just started at 95K miles. I believe mine is from the headlight switch (or it started about the same time). When I turn my headlights off, they do not stay off or will not turn off at all (still hearing the hey, you headlights are still on warning.) I have to wiggle the switch and hold my mouth just right, and they will stay off. Sometime, the dang things will just turn on and off during the night.
(before you say it, I do not have an alarm on the truck)

Dangest thing ever.

Their scanner will only read the codes indicated by the SES light. If it is not on, don't waste a trip.

check the tail light strip on both sides. It takes a torx head screw driver, but I can't remember what size. Let the tail-gate down and remove the 3 or 4 screws from the tail light assembldy, remove the strip and inspect the bulb terminals for a "burned" or a place that looks bad.

'03's were bad about the connections on those strips making a bad connection and faulting the strip...(yes, will cause a chime)

Mine did that. Had to replace the passenger side tail light bulb about every 6 months.

If you turn the ignition 3 times without starting, it will pull up codes. It's built in to the ram and displays where your odometer reading is. Just do a quick search on the internet if you get a code.

Thanks so much. It wasn't the seatbelt, headlamps or tail lights....but I just had a 7 prong put in my bumper and they had problems connecting it and did have to replace a bulb in the back, maybe it burned out again or there is a loose connection. I will check it out

Okay guys....I have it narrowed down. When its cool outside like this morning I drove approx 20 miles and didn't hear a ding but as my brakes warmed up, when I pressed on them, it dings.

So fished for a while and it got hot out. On the way home it dinged every other time I pushed on my brake pedal. What can I do to fix this?

Jodi

Does it only do this when the trailer is hooked up?

No trailer hooked up to it today when it was doing it..as a matter of fact, the trailer is never hooked up to it when it does it.
