I should have the photos up today, but getting ready to leave for the Gulf of Mexico.
My dad is 64 years old this month. He has been bass fishing since he was 7 years old. In all of those years he has caught and landed only two bass over 10 lbs. (10.21 and 10.70) this was back in the late 80's on an East Texas hot water lake, I was 6 or 7 and remember it very clearly. It was on back to back nights.
My dad started taking me bass fishing at age 1. I was using baitcasters at age 5 or 6. This is all he and I have ever known or done.
This man has more knowledge of bass fishing than anyone I have ever known. Thousands and Thousands of hours on the water, I guess will cause you to know a little. But, even this veteran just could not land a double digit fish since the 80's. Many times he has had them on here at Lake Fork, but stumps - brush - bad line etc had prevented him from landing them.
Well, last night he landed his biggest bass ever at 10:02 pm weighing 10.80 lbs on the scales in the boat (which we found out weighed 6 ounces light after having the other certified). Five hours later at 3:00 am, he beat his 63 year standing personal best again with an 11.71 lbs which was certified at the Minnow Bucket Marina, by Chris.
Both fish were released back into Lake Fork after some great photos.
I am very proud of my father. He has worked very hard and spent thousands of hours hunting a double digit fish and it paid off twice in one night, how cool is that.
Fish 1 - 10.80. Caught on a point in 10 foot of water, just outside of the grass on a Bama Bug Grande Bass Mutant.
Fish 2 - 11.71. Caught on a flat in 10 foot of water, just outside of the grass on a Bama Bug Grande Bass Mutant.
So for all of us Big Bass hunters out there, it is like Mike Iaconelli says, "NEVER GIVE UP"!!
