I prefer the Mr. Crappie Hi-Viz line from Bass Pro. It is cheap and stong. I have pulled up brush with it. I use the 6 lb. and it takes quite a bit to break it. ------------------ David "Git-R-Done"

I use the Stren "Gold". I just like the "golder" look to it over the Hi-Viz line. To each his own. I actually found mine out here at a convenience store. I have never seen any of the higher visibility lines at either Academy or Wally World...wish they would start carrying it. ------------------ Duck Jerky Guide Service

The Wally Marshall high Vis is strong and works fine.. The Stren is much more expensive and not much better quality.. I wanna find some orange line somewhere..Anybody seen any of that? ------------------ BENCHMARK MORTGAGE 972-429-9776

I bought some of the Mr. Crappie Hi Vis line from BPS and have been very pleased with it. But I have a question about it if some of you experts don't mind. Does the Hi Vis not spook the fish? When I bought my Hi Vis line it was on the shelf right next to the Mr. Crappie Camouflage line. It just seemed a little strange buying bright yellow line when camo line is right next to it. In a way it kind of seems like buying a shiny silver jacket to go duck hunting in. I feel that I am catching more crappie because of it, but what about other fish like sandies and LMB? Do I need to change line when fishing for other species?

Been there, done that (same thinking), but the high visibility lines seem not to bother the fish. This year alone, we have caught crappie, LMB, catfish (all species), carp, buffalo, sandbass, hybrids, bluegill, and even a cold or two, all using either Mr. Crappie Hi-viz yellow, or golden Stren, while fishing crappie size jigs. It's a "head trip" for a lot of people, cause they just can't get over the bright color, but if you're paying attention to the line while fishing, you'll catch more fish using it.

Does anyone ever use the HiViz with a 'LowViz' leader. THat way you could see the line react to the bite but have peace of mind about what the fish are seeing (or not seeing). Is it worth the effort?

When I am rigged with a leader, it is always lighter than my main line. I do it both for the transparency of the lighter leader and also if get hung up I can break off and keep everything above my swivel. All I have to do is tie on a new leader and hook and rebait.

I use Hi-Viz whenever I can. I've caught many more fish because I can see the bite before I feel it. ------------------ steve pine

Guys, Don't over think... Since using hi vis line, I've caught everything but a whale... Like Guy said..Bass, catfish, sandies, bream, carp, buffaloe, not to mentions literally hundreds of crappie,.. Remember, we're talking fish, not turkeys..lol.. They don't look at the jig, then look at the line and say to each other "hey, I wonder what's on the other end of that".. They just bite it and find out..lol I don't use leaders, too much trouble, swivels either, added expense and of no real help.. I can tie on a jig as fast as I can put one on a swivel, with less agrivation. If I'm catching fish, I don't have time to do anything but put a new jig on at the most.. I wanna stay in the strike zone way more than I want to do anything else.. It's pretty simple.. A jig, and some string and a thump.. That's all I need.... ------------------ BENCHMARK MORTGAGE 972-429-9776

I think most of us are fishing north, or east texas. Water clarity is not the best. I wonder if line visibility is an issue on really clear lakes. MO

Great Question..I have heard of lakes that you can see a dime at 20 ft.. The best way to find out would be to fish it and see if there is a difference..I've never experienced that.. I'd have one guy in the boat try with high vis and the other with clear line to see if it does make a differnce.. ------------------ BENCHMARK MORTGAGE 972-429-9776

I converted to the H/V line this year and would not fish with anything else now. I do believe I catch more fish, not because it is visible for them, but visible for me. I am on the bottom end of a spool of Wally Marshall line. My only complaint is that if I pull loose from a snag and break my jig off, the next 2-3 feet of line becomes very brittle. I just keep snapping it off until I get to good line and re-tie.

I fished some of that Extremely clear water and couldn't get bit with Hi-Viz. I went down to a clear 4# and caught fish. I doubt we have anything that is clear enough to cause problems in North and East Texas? I have caught thousands of Crappie on Hi-Viz Wallly line. I have some reels spooled with clear and I miss the Viz! Jerry www.JerryHancockOutdoors.com www.AdvantagemarineUSA.com
