What is a good way to weigh a fish with out harming it ? I am planing on getting this scale and don't really want to poke a hole in the fishes mouth.

go to wall mart and get a laundry bag, its fine mesh and it will hold a fish. you can put a hole around the end where the draw string is. be sure to soak it in water first.

the fish have a slimey coating on them, if you put the fish in there dry it will remove that and could cause damage to there scales.

If you have a soft mesh net you can just weigh it in the net. You can even zero your scale to the net to avoid the math after the fact...

All you need is a bucket, some copper wire, a 50lb sack of potatoes, and a convenient tree branch. Lasso the fish's tail with copper wire and hang it over a tree branch. At the other end of the wire, tie a bucket. Keep adding potatoes from the 50lb bag into the bucket until the fish and the bucket balance at the same level either side of the branch. When you get home, weigh the remaining potatoes in the 50lb sack on the bathroom scale. Deduct this number from 50lbs, and deduct another pound to account for the bucket, and you'll know the weight of the fish you caught. The added bonus is that the bigger the fish, the easier it is to carry the sack home.
For bigger fish, use a 100lb sack of potatoes.
If the copper wire, a bucket and a 50 or 100 lb sack of potatoes is too much to carry in your two hands, you can use a laundry sack to put them in so you can carry then with only one hand. Laundry sacks are only a dollar or so at Wally World I hear...
