howdy,

my wife and i will be taking a trip to caddo sometime in october...what is biting at this time? anyone know of any good guides? also what about lodging..we would like to have something really close to the lake...i have checked online and found a few but was wondering if anyone had any they had been to and really enjoyed...i'm sure she would some place more of a B&B type or a secluded house than camping like i would prefer...links would be helpful...TIA and Gig'em

Really aint much to stay at right around caddo. Mostly gonna be a 30 minute drive. I been doing good out there right now on jigs and 11in worms. Been haveing atleast a 5lber a trip if not bigger. Usually that time of year a fluke is killer or a senko and rattletrap

Check out Crips Camp in Uncertain Texas. We have stayed in cabins & trailers there that were clean and comfortable. Right on the water. But its not the honeymoon suites either. If you are going for points get a B&B in Jefferson! Want more points? Leave your boat at home......NOT!

november is the time to be on the lake. when the cypress trees all turn orange its really pretty. as for baits, when i was a kid we used to do good on spinnerbaits and jigs.

In October fish a jig around the scattered cypress trees in 4 to 7 feet of water. Usually good for a nice fish and some times you numbers are not bad either. As far as guides check out Paul Keith at www.caddolakefishing.com (i think) he is located in Shreveport LA.

I have been here (http://www.shadygladeresort.com/) a few times. Good food at the cafe and a nice area. You may want to look at B&B's in Uncertain Tx, they have a few and you would be at the lake.

Check out Allen's Tour and Guide Service. They have a nice house to stay in with all the extras if you want to bring your own food. There is a great catfish restaurant a couple hundred yards down the road with a good boat ramp. There is also a small casino/restaurant about 8 eight miles. You will be right on the water. It is located on pelican lodge road close to vivian la.
phone number is 318-375-5847. web site is. http://www.caddolake.com/carlallen.htm

Fishing is usually good that time of year. Grass will be key, pads starting to pull back and hydrilla along small depth changes.

I've stayed with my wife at hodgepodge cottages and have tried to stay at ?spatterdock? but they have been booked evrytime. There are lots of places around Uncertain, Texas I would stay with my wife.

X2 for Crips Camp. They have several very reasonably priced cabins and trailers, and you are right on the water. Across the street is Johnson's Ranch, if you can't get a boat out at Crips.

They serve breakfast there at the store as well.

I go almost every year, and stay at Crips every time. Gary there will take good care of you.

As for the fishing, I think it seems to stay the same there all year around. Find isolated cypress trees, and fish all around their root system.

You will also want to have a frog tied on, with at least 50lb braid.

Paul Keith is your guide on Caddo.

I live 15 minutes from Caddo and fish it often. Send me a message when it gets close and I'll be glad to help if I can.

Kent
