Hot water frown Been catching a few but the coolest water I've found at sunup has been 86, with temps up to 94 at sundown. The night bite hasn't been very good for me this summer.

We were out there early june. I was more interested in playing
with my new boat than fishing so I didn't catch anything. My
buddy Joe picked up 1 channel cat and 1 small mouth and he's never
really fished much in his life.

Both of those came on a gold fish looking rat-l-trap (they sell
goldfish as bait at the little store there).

That's what a good guide does!

Last weekend was not bad - still too warm for my preference though. I need it to drop about 3 - 5 degrees and I'll be back.

That would make sense with the water as warm as I've ever seen it.

Just got home from Purtis. Fished 3 hours. Water was 91.5 at sunset. Caught 3 on spinnerbaits in 5 -8 ft water. Never found a worm or jig bite. Lake is about 12 -18 inches low. No grass & no pads. Sure looks and fishes different from several years back.

Glad to see the park is not charging a ramp fee anymore. Only $3/ person entry fee.

I'm no professional, perhaps it could have been a spotted or
Guadalupe. The mouth definitely didn't come back behind the
eye.

About 2 months ago a friend and I caught a few small ones and two big fatties.

Big ones where 6lb+ and a 8lb+. Both off the same brush pile in 14' of water.

First time on the lake - but liked it - no jet ski pressure or skiers.
