Does anyone know where I can buy in 100 lots, 1/4 oz., unpainted jigheads with collar and #8 hook? Would appreciate any help.

Holy schmokes, that's an itty bitty hook. I'll be pouring tonight and if you'd like, I can see if I can squeeze that small hook into that big 'ole head. Let me know. PS. I sell jig heads, painted or unpainted. Check my website for other options.

Seems like a 1/4 oz head w/collar would swallow the # 8 hook.

Doesnt Earnest Paty talk about pouring such a jig in Crappie Fishing 101?

#6 is the smallest hook that I've used. That's without a collar. A smaller hook just doesn't have much bite. Scares me.

I think the jighead, would work the hook loose with the head shake.. Don't think the penetration would be solid enough to keep a fish on.
I've caught fish with a 1/6th oz with a #4 and sometimes it's impossible to remove the hook without bending it out of shape completely.

Well I did a little testing. It's nearly (I say nearly, because nothing is completely impossible) impossible to pour the 1/4oz head with a #8 hook. You have to modify the mold in such that it would be virtually useless for anything else. I also tried a #6 hook. You still have to modify the mold, but not nearly as bad. But, what I found is that, with the collar heads, there is very little clearance between the barb on the collar and the barb of the hook. Maybe 1/16", I didn't measure and my eyeball measuring is not good. I will measure it for real tonight just for giggles. The 1/4oz with a #6 hook can be done...but I along with everyone else here it seems...wouldn't advise it. A #4 hook on the other hand.......just right. Now, non collar heads are completely different.

I wanna see a # 8 with a 1/4 oz head without the collar.. I still wouldn't recommend it. The #4 is perfect

WilieFindum here, I have poured #4 and #6 on 1/4,1/8, 1/16, #8 on 1/16 and 1/32 I have even poured a #10 on a 1/32. I would say that with out having a mold made (not just modifing one) that to put a #8 hook on 1/4 head w/collor is impossible. (Jeff, I will say it) I agree that a #8 on 1/4 w collar, the collar would limit the bite of the hook. I have seen the old timers, add a split shot above the jig to get extra weight to small jigs.
