For the very best bait, whether you use live shrimp or croakers, you must go to West End Bait. They're on business 35 west of downtown. Turn left at the Bay Side Camper Park sign. These guys take better care of their bait than anybody. Period. You will not be disappointed. For fishing supplies, ice, some tackle, try The Point. There are several public piers and rock groins on Tres Palacios bay for bank fishing. If you have a boat, you might try some of the wells and platforms out in West Matagorda Bay if it's not to windy.
