Heh-heh-heh! total solitude in my creeks unless someone goes with me or is a "regular" there!

No shoulder to shoulder stuff, and no low water to speak of, depsite the drought!

As far as pics, i got 15 pages of pics, and I dare say 85-90 percent of the pics in the photos are crappie, DEAD OF WINTER CREEK CRAPPIE! and of those, probably 90 percent are NOVEMBER TO THE END OF FEBRUARY CRAPPIE!

www.myfishingphotos.com, In the home page, upper right hand corner is a search engine box. Type in lovfldx and click the "search" button and it will take you there. I have other fishing bud's pics posted on there as well, but the pics you see of me with crappie and sandies or piles of crappie, majority are winter creek crappie i have taken over the last 2 yrs.

At our recent MLK gathering Monday before last, i fried up probably 30 lbs of crappie fillets, and probably gave away another 20 or so lbs of primo crappie fillets, that had to be cooked within a day or two because they were thawed, and only packed in ice, and i don't know long they will keep that way! And EVERY ONE of those fillets came from fish I have caught cleaned and stored in the freezer since about thanksgiving week right up to the day BEFORE the MLK annual whing ding we have at WRC!

90 percent of them came on the jig/bobber combo, in no more than 8 ft of water! Most 2-3 ft below the surface.

And what i do in these creeks is nothing special, heck Ernest and Guy been doing it way longer than me. I am just flabbergasted by all this "can't wait till the spawn" malarkey! Why wait, they been biting since first frost back in November!

HEY ERNEST, SAW SOME SUPER SLAB CRAPPIE CAUGHT TODAY, ALONG WITH SOME ABSOLUTELY AWESOME SOW SANDIES, IN NO MORE THAN 7 FT OF WATER, ABOUT 4-5 FT BELOW THE SURFACE!!

IT BEES GOOD MAN!!!

GO FIND YOUR OWN!!

Rudy

Ernest,

I figured it was prolly someone you knew, that's why I assumed he was joking. Rudy, I apologize. I don't even know Ernest (up/close and personal), but he's always been forthcoming and friendly, thus, being who I am, I defended the guy. So, my apologies if I offended ya.

bolt

It's all good. Let's get back to talkin' fishing and technique.

I like to use the rubber bobber stops you can buy at walmart, they slide up and down the line easy and will even pass thru the eyes of you rod and onto your reel for really deep fishing. About this time of year at wallyworld they put a bunch of stuff out for pennies on the dollar, and last year I got 30 packs of these stops for a nickle a pack. For you guys that haven't had the chance to fish a creek with Rudy or doubt what he's saying, you should listen to him. The man knows his stuff and if he's telling you to go then you should get up and go get you some. You might even run into Rudy and Ernest and Guy inventing the next big Crappie catching system or maybe discussing the best creek side snack, or the best way to carry a roll of toilet paper with you, who knows. laugh

Vaughn,

I'd be all over catching some "winter" creek crappie. But what creek on what lake are we talking about here?

I know Twin Coves Park (N of the dam on Grapevine) used to have a creek in there that has some nice un's.

Well, if I were you I would go to the bank fishing section and look around. Search "creek" and look at all the posts from the past and start from there. It will become very clear where they tend be at this time of year. You may also go the Guy Skinner's web site and see if he still has the handout that they printed last year. Rudy detailed some of his best spots with directions. No one can call this guy selfish, he put everything in there, other than how to hold your mouth right of course. That always seems to be my problem. Let me know if you ever want to take a trip out to Cedar Creek, I can't catch them like the other guys on here but it's a fun boat ride.

Well as far as creeks, first you gotta find one with water, LOL! My creeks(Joe's, WRC, Rowlett,Bachman,(well, maybe not rowlett, a bit of a problem there),and a few others, DO NOT lack water! The Elm Fork is in decent enough shape, although, until probably today, the lower spillways were too low for any water to flow over.

Most lakes have excellent creeks that have been holding crappie since AT LEAST November, it's just a matter of finding one, checking it out, and filling the ice chest, bucket, stringer, whatever!!

Boy I tell ya, that guy that's posting from the Granbury creeks, WOWZERS! That's my kind of winter creek crappie fishing!, I don't really like to drive that far to catch 'em though, because I HAVE GONE OUT AND FOUND MY OWN, PRACTICALLY IN MY BACKYARD!! But it sure is dangling the carrot out in front of me!

Offense? NONE TAKEN! Rant? Probably a bit, because it seems some folks on this forum want everything as far as fishing holes pretty much handed to 'em, freeloading off others' HARD WORK!

If it came across as a rant directed at an individual, then my bad, it was a blanket random shot at what seems like some real lazy "fisherpersons" on this website!

That's my story and I am sticking to it!

It took me years to find and cultivate these fishing holes, and I'll be damned if I am just gonna hand em over to some Joe who's got a lazy boy stuck to his butt!

UH OH, another rant, SORRY!

ANYONE who knows me knows that I will gladly share info, sometimes too much, been accused of that, right crappieslayer? But not to the guy who has 500 posts(generalization) doing nothing but wanting and wanting and wanting ALL the details, and not getting off that lazy boy long enough to go out and do field research and contribute info back!

WHEW!

GO FIND YOUR OWN!!

RUDY

Rudy,

It's all good, my friend. I agree with the "lazy fisherman" tactic. But may graze Guy's site for that "handout" Vaughn spoke of. I've walked my share of creeks and explored through the years, that's for sure.

Thanks for being cool to a worn out, weatherman (ok guys, no cracks).

Vaughn,
If you ever need a ride buddy to CC, like I told TurkeyHunter, just write me an email or I can give ya my cell#, and we'll do this thing.
