Brewboy/Ernest,
Gotcha on the set-up and techique now. And no worries Brewboy (actually grew up in Bedford off Brown Tr/Harwood Rd (N of 183) and went to Bell High in the early 80s), I have PowerPro only rig on set ups for "vertical" fishing. I figure in water less than 8-10', (especially creeks and slews) would be the best on mono line (either Vanish or IronSilk).
Gracias, gents.

For "poppin cork" set ups. I figure already about most of what y'all said. I've done that with minners and striper flies as well.
Nats, Yeah, I have all of the following types of bobbers, plastic cylindrical (namely for my kids), cigar (both weighted and unweighted), and the pear/clip types, so appreciate your insight as well.
Mark, If I may reply, pear/clip types are where you put the thread your line into 1-side of a pear bobber and stick, then it has a plastic sheating that you turn like 1/4-1/2 turn to hold it on your line.
If you don't want it to go deeper than a certain depth, you can tie a knot (similar to Ernest's picture and put the beads they give you on either side to diminish the noise when the bobber hit's this knot above it or the swivel below it (for those who use a non-clip swivel like myself. I think I got that right.

HEY WAIT A MINUTE GUYS!
MR PATY: LET'S KEEP THE FACTS STRAIGHT, PLEASE SIR! THE CRAPPIE HAVE BEEN IN THE CREEKS SINCE NOVEMBER, NOT JANUARY!!
THE SAND BASS STARTED SHOWING UP IN DECEMBER, RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!
AS OF WEDNESDAY, THE REALLY BIG CRAPPIE HAVE SHOWN UP!!
THIS PAST TUESDAY, THE MAGNUM SIZED SANDIES FINALY ARRIVED, IN NUMBERS!!!
SO, WHY YOU OTHER FOLKS ARE STILL GLUED TO THOSE LAZY BOYS WAITING FOR THEM TO "MOVE", IS BEYOND ME!!
UP UNTIL A WEEK AGO, THEY WERE 3 FT DOWN IN 5 FT OF WATER, NOW THEY ARE 5 FT DOWN IN 7-8 FT OF WATER!
BY THE TIME SOME OF YOU GET ORGANIZED, OR MOTIVATED ENOUGH TO "MOVE" IT WILL ALL BE OVER BUT THE LAMENTING!
YOU WILL CATCH THE NUMBERS, BUT NOT THE QUALITY THAT IS COMING RIGHT NOW!!
THEN YOU'LL GO BACK TO "WISHIN INSTEAD OF FISHIN'" AGAIN!
MAS TRISTE!!!
GO FIND YOUR OWN!!!

I didnt say the reports were lies or a conspiracy. I said that they would be more convincing with photos. Theres a creek on the east side of Ray Hubbard. Theres a bridge over it on FM 205. I believe its name is Camp Creek. Do you all think its holding crappie now?

RUDY That was exactly , I mean EXACTLY my experience a few days ago . With either minnows or jigs the crappie would strike as soon as the slip bobber allowed the line to reach the above mentioned depth . As far as popping the bobber or retrieving go , I really didn't need to do either . No subtle taps by the crappie either , they jerked the bobber straight down 95 percent of the time and the other 5 percent reminded me of small bass when the bobber just starts moving away but isn't being jerked under. These stories would be more convincing with date-revealing photographic evidence. The fact that the creeks name was not disclosed is also telling. I don't know if the creek I was fishing has a name , but I'll try and find out . As for " photographic evidence " , I was catching and releasing that day , I wouldn't have took 50 plus pictures even if I could . If I posted pics everytime I caught crappie , eventually someone would complain about that . Every now and again , I'll post a pic of the biggest I caught on any given trip - like this ; http://www.texasfishingforum.com/.ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=007661#000004

Lovfldx (Rudy), Why the ALL CAPS?? Dang man, no need to get defensive or yell, which is what reading your post was like. I think Ernest was just saying that some folks like a little privacy and secracy when they find a honey hole they like when it comes to creeks. As for the rant, I wasn't really sure how it related to anything Ernest said about posting pics of catches. I don't think anybody wants to be shoulder-to-shoulder" along a creek bank like barges can be sometimes. I'm sure you were joking. Calico, I also think that most of us don't feel the need to have digital or any kind of camera with us when we go fishing every time, or most times for that matter. Robsco, excelllllllllllllllent!! --BigCat AgAlum93'

I used the word clips for lack of a better word. What I mean is just a regular small pear shaped cork with button on top that I push down and it has a wire that you attach the line to at the top and bottom of the cork. They are getting hard to find in the small size. I get them at BPS and Sportsmans Warehouse. They are nothing special, but work great for me. I like the plastic because they are heavier then the foam ones and I can case farther and am more accurate. I feel I have more control when casting in the wind. And I can pop them and make a little noise when needed.

Hey, lighten up guys, Rudy's my buddy and was just pulling my leg. He's a great guy.
As for the caps, I do that half the time, I don't claim to be a typist.
Actually I don't mind sharing those creeks and invited those folks to join me. Not everyone feels that way and that's their privledge.
Calico, we're not picking on you, I will do anything I can to help you and all the TFF members. Almost any creek that leads into any lake should have Crappie now. Only one way to find out for sure. Call me Rudy and I will join you at the creek.
