I have been crankin for a bout 2 years now and is now one of my favorite forms of fishin!! I have caught fish from 0-15ft of water!! I have caught fish on DT-16 but NEVER have I EVER caught a bass on a DD-22!! I throw this thing down the sides of points, I crank the edges of drops I crank up points, over the tops of structure!! Hell I have even strolled them down/across points!! Still nothing!! I mainly use a white with a little black top just like a shad and Chart w/ blue top!! So. . . does anyone have any hints they could throw my way!! I have gone out 3 times this weekend/week and only brought 2 rods throwing DD's all day!! I'm tired and lookin for help!!

Creek channels and humps out produce points by a mile for me with dd22's but take that with a grain of salt it may just be my lake. 12lb line and if your not rattling brush or timber your just haulin water.
Also if your always using the same dd22 change it up. I find that about 1 out of 3 don't catch fish for me for whatever reason. They just don't run 100% correctly

I make good contact with the rocks or bottom or brush!! And even when it hits off a rock I pause it for a second!! All the same things I do with a say series 3 or 5 or a DT-10 or 16!! But i just dont get bit!!
when the bait is down there so far. . . does the movement of the bait change a little or does it act the same as a Series 3 does in 5 ft of water??

Are you locating bass feeding on schools of shad or other bait when throwing the DD22? If not, you are wasting your time. You need to locate active fish at the proper depth for the DD22 to produce consistently. You can dredge a lot of dead water if you don't locate the sweet spots. I'll add that in some lakes the fish just don't like the looks of a DD22 and really aren't interested.

Slow it down. Don't just cast and crank. When the bait hits the water, crank down fast to get it deep, then slow the speed of your cranking. Once it is deep just slow down and let the action/wobble do the work. Try it.

DD-22's don't ever work! You should put them all in a box and send them to me and I'll dispose of them for you.

Make sure you are making contact with the bottom unless by chance you are after suspended fish. Not uncommon to catch fish on a DD22 in water less than 10 feet deep. Adjust your line size to get it down to the bottom. Make sure you are casting a mile so that you maximize time in the strike zone. I catch most my DD22 fish bouncing off brushpiles or dredging points.

just wondering....if you are catching fish on the 10's and 16's, why are you worried about throwing a 22? im not bein rude or sarcastic but it sounds like you've got the right touch with the 10's and 16's......idk maybe your targeting deeper water than you normally do????

A. make contact with the bottom, or cover B. Use Sexy Shad in clear water, Firetiger in stained water C. Slow it down and be patient-the bites will be few but big!

kind of like a carolina rig. better quality fish. always want to make contact with the bottom. especially deep timber or rocks. as far as colors. you can never go wrong with the most natural colors you can find. shad don't change colors when the water gets dirty. so the more natural the better

Fish Tree Tops in deep water... Make sure you are hitting limbs. Fish parallel to deep timber edges and make sure you are pulling thru the limbs or cast into the timber on angles and bump trunks on the way back. If you are not getting hung up from time to time you are not fishing the timber correctly.
Rip Rap.. put your boat in 20ft of water and cast at 30deg angles dragging shallow to deep. You have to slow roll the bait for few feet or it will get hung up a lot. Make sure you are just ticking the tops of the rocks and if you bounce solid off a rock pause and let it float up a little before you begin reeling again.
Work Grass edges 8-12ft and reel just fast enough to tick the tops of the sparse grass. If the bait feels like it's bogging down.. reel down... rip it free... and Hang On!
