When grabbing a minnow outta the bucket, I shake it to make it dizzy or disorentied and easier to hook. Any truth to this?

There's probably truth to that, But I try to do my best to keep my minner as lively as possible.

When I was younger we would fish with minners around timber. Everyone knows that a minner placed in close proximity to a tree has a 100% likely hook of entangling itself in the tree.
I would thump their heads to stun them.
Of course, the fish have to be aggressively biting for that to work.

kikr Personally I think that it would be a waste of time. But if it works for you thats good. I hook most of my minnows through the lips from the bottom up through the top its real easy and fast. By doing this you put your minnow in a natural swimming position falling or on the rise, This will give you more bites. Im with IBFishing I like my minnows lively as possible. Don't use minnows jigs work better and you don't have to shake or kill them before putting them on the hook. GoodLuck CrappieMaster

Don't let anyone see you. I think shakin a young minnow is against the law.
