Bluegill jigs are really becoming something folks are talking about and fishing with! 4 lb test line is my top recommendation on an ultralight rod/reel combo. You can fish these with a bobber or without. But use only the smallest bobber that you can get by with. The bigger the bobber the bigger the splash and that's gonna spook those bluegills away! I highly recommend that Adjust-A-Bubble bobber as you can easily adjust the line length between the bobber and the jig without damaging the line. Another tip is the put a small piece of wax worm on the hook point and get ready to fill that fryer!!

Enjoy!!

You can see these and many more bluegill jigs on my blog:

yeah chuckwagon... these 'micro jigs' are really getting some interests!!! but i love it when the fishies get interested in them!!! hahahhaa

If'n you think 1/80s are small... take a look sometime at the 1/100s or the 1/120s!!! My gosh talk about a deadly slow fall!

Looks like those would be tossable on the ol' fly rod, might have to tie a couple up.

It's more than the catfish would do.

In-Fisherman recently had an article on microjigs for sunfish. Some of the jigs were as small as 1/500th ounce.

Oh yes!! I love rigging these up on a jig-n-fly tandem rig!! They are stellar performers indeed!
