Go to a orthopedist and get some orthotic insoles for about $40, then go to Bass Pro and get some RedHead Mens Lifetime Guaarantee Sook. Since fishing in these sock, my feet have been comfortable because of the stress point grips in the socks. I have the same problems.

Bet you use a foot control motor??.. it has help me lots to use a hand control.. I can walk around while fishing and keep weigh equally on both feet, not on heels.. If I used a foot control I would have to sit down. Youth and foot controls are a good match...

Crocs are what I fish in and my feet feel fine at the end of the day.

+1 On the New Balance. That is all I wear in the Summer months. I have found some Gore-Tex running shoes that I will start wearing in the Spring. My feet, legs, and back hurt much less with them on in the Summer time.

Get a good pair of running shoes. They are made to help protect your knees and feet.

Check out Tredz sandals at Academy. They have a few pairs that have a soft insert in the heal. I can fish all day and my feet never hurt while wearing them. If you want the softest sandals I have ever seen, or wore check out www.mytiddies.com.

As a retired Podiatrist it does sound like Plantar Fascitis. Avoid going barefoot or anything with a low heel, get a good cross trainer for fishing. I wear and recommend New Balance, whatever you get make sure it has a good heel height!

I'm telling you... New Balance is the way to go.. I have some back problems as well and this is the best pair that I have found. I have tried a lot of different brands including shoxs. Also, go to a large store and get properly fitted by someone who is knowledgeable. Good luck!!!

sitting down really puts a damper on the way i fish but i have ben having some foot problems lately and i ain't that old! Against my better judgement I've been fishing in crocs for the past few months and it was helped, anyone have any recommendations on which New Balance helps the most?

I'm 62 and I have plantar fasciaitis. I wear Asics model 1140 gel sole running shoes and they help a lot - about $80 at Academy. You need a lot of padding in the heel area and good support for the arch with this foot problem. But I still sit on my pedestal seat most of the time and just stand on and off. Around the house, I loosen the laces on the Asics and wear them like slip-ons. I have been to a podiatrist and have tried the stretching devices and non-custom inserts, but the Asic 1140's have given me the best relief.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.
