i have a g loomis mossy back heavy rod but it is not as tough as my g loomis gle2 so im buying another rod, im thinking about the st croix torunament (the blue one) , a power tackle like the paragon or another gl2, what do you think?

Legend Tournament: nice sticks, but noticeably tip-heavy

Power Tackle: Sweet lookin' sticks, but all are mod-fast blanks. I only like a mod-fast rod for crankbaits.

Loomis: In this price range, I think an IMX is the best choice. You could also get a custom G-blanks rod for under $200.

The reason that the St.Croix Legend Tournaments are top heavy is because of the skeletal handles. Avids, and Legend Elites are not nearly as top heavy as they are made with full cork handles which acts as a counterbalance to the main portion of the rod. I found that if your looking for a longer rod, then the Avid Salmon/Steelhead rods are the BERRIES!

i have several power tackle rods and there awesome. i used to fish with GLX loomis rods. i have total switch brands for me. power tackle rods are a solid rods and lite weight too. Shane Moore at southwestern parts and service turn me on to them. he's got good selection to chose and to buy from.

and which model do you recomend for flipping of the power tackle , im planning on buy a paragon 6 feet 6 inches medium heavy for close range flipping , is that strong enough to pull big fish out of heavy cover, do the guides of the power tackle stand braid?

Thought I'd Chime in on St. Croix Rods. I fish the 6'6" Med. Legend Xtreme with split grips. I started off with a Revo STX on it and found it to feel tip heavy. The STX weighs in at 8.8oz, but then I switched to a 6.3oz Revo Premier, and the combo feels a lot more balanced. The Xtreme also has Recoil Guids on it, so that might help with the tip feeling more balanced than the LT.
