I am heding to copano bay in one week and was planing to try some shark fishing in the eavenings. I am not sure were to go. does any one have some advise on were to cach sharks and what is the best bait to use.

Copano Bay is pretty shallow for shark. You'd do better to head into Port Aransas and fish surf, Caldwell Pier or the Jetties. Use large chunks of cut bait.

Ladyfish, whiting, mullet, jacks or any other "blood" fish (dark meat) fish work well. You'll 3-6 ft. of steel leader and tackle that's capable for the fight of larger fish.

If you're real serious then I'd suggest a trip down PINS. The guts are deeper which tends to bring the sharks in closer.

For best results you need to place your bait beyond the 3rd sandbar which means you need a surfboard or kayak to paddle it out and drop it. You'll also need a reel large enough to carry that much line (1000 yard capacity).

i have caught alot of trout on copano on finger-mullet. You can fish caldwell pier and catch blacktips on whitting and mullet.

just got a big boat 4 the first time want to catch shark hav not ever been offshore dont think it would be smart to go with my smarts thinking the galviston channel or jetties havent ever been there eather some advice on where to go for some shark action that will make me come back for more

I fished the Bayside Public Pier (Copano) with whole mullet and cut bait a couple of times this summer...got two four foot gar and a 3 1/2 foot black tip....then also caught a 2 1/2 foot black tip @ the mission river boat ramp on cut ladyfish.
