Okay heres what I want to know?

How does it work?

I mean with a spin-caster or bait-caster to bait/lure attracts the fish. What attracts the fish to take the bait in fly fishing?

Thanks,
Kevin

It's visual and lateral line, they key on that. Fly fishing pretty much leaves the smell factor out (unless you bring some secret stinky spray, just be sure to share with the rest of us smile )

So it pretty much boils down to presentation.

really the only difference is that you cast the line and not the lure, but everything else is just the same, the fish eat it exactly the same

you sound confused knolan. People use baitcasting lures to mimmick crawfish -- so we tie 'flies' to mimmick crawfish. baitcasters use patterns like little fish, big fish, wierd fish, short worms, wiggly worms, long worms, flukes, splittails, straight tails, sculpins, crabs, frogs, and wierd bassy things... and we have flies that mimmick all of those also (and some extra!). We have flies that flank like rapalas; flies that create noise; flies that swim; flies that mimmick the different rigging patterns; flies that come small; and flies that come BIG (6/0 big enough for ya?). so really its the same thing. cept with a flyrod. and larger profit of fun!

My .02 is this -

Lures most often trigger a strike reaction, and don't get me wrong lots (most) flies do the same thing. But when most people think of flyfishing, they think trout, and to me (again, just my opinion) a lot of freshwater trout flyfishing is coercing a fish to strike by providing an extremely accurate artificial situation in which the fish cannot detect the artificial nature of the offering. The more realistic the presentation and appearance, the more likely the fish will be willing to eat that particular fly.

It makes a lot more sense in my head, but hopefully that helped.
