Tried to find some crappie yesterday. Only found 1 that was hungry. He was about 5-6 inches long! Fished shallow hard for about an hour, didn't find 'em there. I really expected to catch them in the shallows with the water temp around 60. Went deeper looking for 'em around some boat slips in 18 ft of water. Found a few on the fish finder. Fished there a while and caught a CARP... about a 15 pounder! Of course, I was fishing with my ultralight gear and 6 pound test. Took a while to tire that fish out. He sure did put a BIG bow in my little rod! I hooked another one later that was probably a little smaller but he wasn't hooked good. He broke free after a few seconds of fighting. Had a couple of scales on the hook when I reeled in and examined the jig. Total catch, 1 white bass, 1 miniscule crappie, and a big 'ol carp! laugh
