Anybody try it? I went once from 4-9pm, determined to find fish, and I caught 9 crappie on hell/pet. Also 6 blacks on hell/pet and 7 cats under the bridge on stink bait, all small if anyone cares about those. So I know there's crappie in there and scoped out some promising spots. I might try it sometime this week, just wanted to know how others have done.

I've spent many hours out at lake Bryan chasing the bass but seldom catch crappie, but like you I know they are there somewhere. Knowing where the brush piles are is a great help to finding the crappie. If they didn't close the gate everynight at 9pm I would stay later and fish. I've always wanted to fish the full moon but my job and life makes that a problem..

I was out there Tuesday morning (Aug 30th) in my kayak and was working the east dam wall next to the inlet. Was that you in the bass tracker?

Last Saturday morning was pretty good for bass along the wall (rocks) with a white spinner bait but I was flyfishing this time and only catching perch along the wall.. I did find some schooling bass over on the other side off the point out in open water and managed to catch 4 nice ones on a large white inline spinner. The bass are schooling in that area just like last year when I was hitting them almost everyday, even amoung the jetskis and water skiers.

You sure they actually close the gate at 9:00? I talked to a few guys there last time who said they'd stayed till 11:00.

My boat's a grey 12' inflatable.

9:00PM is what the sign says.. but I suspect because of the new bar and grill they might not close it on time every night... I feel they are doing a sucky job of keeping the trash picked up!

I went again Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.. caught several bass and perch but no crappie ( I don't fish deep enough for crappie)

One day when we went to do some bank fishing we found two wallets on the ground that looked like they were searched through because all the credit cards were strewn about.

Hey guys, you are the first ones besides me that I've seen from the college station area. I would like to fish sometime with any of you. I fish mostly for bass but crappie is sure good eating if you can find them. I have a problem with the concept of paying to fish on such small lakes like lake bryan, that's why I've only been there a couple of times and only once on the water. But I will pay if I know that the fish are hitting and could stock up. Do you have places around here to fish that we don't have to pay? Let me know if you want to get together sometime, just email me. Later.

Lake Bryan isn't known for good crappie fishing. According to the TPWD website, its considered poor. The only thing I've caught out there are perch, and only one was decently sized. Oh and one really small catfish.

My wifes family used to devestate the cats in the bridge area on stinkbait always in the 12" range. Inever knew there were crappie there.

Years ago (20+) it was a pretty good crappie, bass and catfish lake but the lake hasn't been managed very well as a fishery for at least 15 years and even less so since they let the pleasure boats, skiers and jet skies become the lakes major source of gate receipts (funds) for the park.
It is a nice facility for family picnics, concerts and general water recreation/sports and for some University clubs. But despite this the LM Bass at Lake Bryan have really come a long way from just a few years ago. TPWD is considering stocking some stripers-white/hybrids but I believe plans have been delayed for some reason (funds probably) I wish they would stock white bass. I agree with fishhound about paying to fish because I'm on a tight budget and I have to optimize my opportunities, but I don't keep many fish and I usually fish for sport and relaxation. Lake Bryan is the closest body of decent fish-able water and is easy to get to as well.. an annual pass is $70.00 which isn't to expensive for me compared to $5.00 at the gate times the number of trips I'll head out there over a year. Bottom line: With a boat, a good fishfinder and some directed effort I believe there are lots of catchable crappie in Lake Bryan.
