Without even looking at the picture I correctly identified it as a diamond back water snake. They must really be prolific! You may want to look closer. It is Nerodia erythrogaster transversa, blothed water snake. To many of the other replies, I have never understood an outdoorsman who wouldn't take the time to know whether a snake was dangerous. If you going to spend the time outdoors, you shouldn't be afraid of harmless animals. Then again, stay afraid and leave some of the spots to us who are not and took the time to know whether we should be.

To many of the other replies, I have never understood an outdoorsman who wouldn't take the time to know whether a snake was dangerous. Wasn't too worried about whether it was dangerous or not, a few wacks of a crappie rod and paddle and the threat (if any) was neutralized

sorry fellas, thats not a diamond back in the first pic. its a blotched water snake not venomous.
doesnt look anything like a water moccasin or a copperhead

Its the deadly Spittin Ringtail Rattling Mamba Cobraconda. Only way to kill it is a .454 Casulls between the eyes
