I recently retired and have purchased a place on CC near Big Chief Landing. I haven't fished in years but it makes more sense than chasing little white balls ( smile ) and am looking forward to getting started again. I found this forum by accident while searching for possible fishing sites on the lake and think it's the best thing since sliced bread!

I like fishing for crappie and sandies. It sounds like from the forum the best fishing for both is farther south toward the dam. Are there many places closer to to the north that do well or do I need to plan a lot of traveling southward?

Last question, are there any reputable boat motor mechanics in that area that will travel on site to do work? My boat is currently on it's lift and I've no trailer.

Looking forward to a long relationship with you guys/gals and CC.

Welcome ghost to the forum. You bet this site is the best.

The best part of CC is the lake produces great fishing from one end of the lake to the other.

Crappie fishing is excellent all over the lake.
Sandbass fishing is better I think from the spillway to the dam area for most of the year.
Dont forget about the catfish north of Big Chief in the trees.

Hope to see you on the lake soon. Dont know anyone down in that area that does on the water boat maintenance, but someone will let you know.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

Ghostblade,

You're in luck, you've moved to a really great fishing lake. Also, you can find lots of good information on this site for sure about fishing. Since you are new to the lake and just getting back into fishing I'd suggest hiring one of the local fishing guides to take you out. You'll find a number of them that post to this site. They will teach you the where and how for both crappie and sandbass. I'm sure you'd find it to be money well spent.

ghostblade you are one lucky dog. CC is a great lake. Check out Guy Skinners web-site or any post with pictures from Guy or Ernest and you will see the kind of monster crappie you are in store for.

Good luck with them.

Greg
