I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM THE FORUM WHAT CRAPPIE HOLE BAITING TECHNIQUES HAVE WORKED BEST. WHETHER DOGFOOD OR WHAT AND HOW. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU

Just put the brush down there. No need for any bait. If you put dog food you will attract everything but crappie.

Yep...best bait for a crappie hole is just natural brush. No need for anything to be added to it

Find ya the best looking male and female crappie and have em hang out at opposite ends of the brush pile so all the other single crappie know they are too and just wait for the possible suitors to show up !
4 out of 5 voices in my head say call in sick and go fishing !

Natural brush, anything added will only reduce the effectivness of the pile in my opinion.

Bait it and they will come.......carp and catfish that is. Build you a good brushpile or condo in a good spot and you'll have crappie. You don't need any bait.

What locations, or types of locations work best for crappie holes? Do Christmas trees make good natural brush? How would one go about lashing all the Christmas trees together and weigthing them down?

If you use a cedar tree, burn the green off it before you sink it. The green will give off (Gas)scent for a year after you sink it. I find Dogwood and Redbuds to be the best, the limbs give enough for you to fish them without loosing a jig every time.
You should not expect a new bed to produce fish for three or four months, I give them a year before I give up and move to another spot. But every winter I always re check them, some will be the hot spots after you give up on them. We add brush every two years to our best beds, the fall before the turn over is a good time to add to them.

I've sunk brush in the morning, and caught fish off it in the afternoon. The location will depend on how quickly fish attract to it.

What range of depths do you sink them in?
