And unfortunately, we didn't catch a dang thing. We fished a small "lake" in a jonboat with no trolling motor and no depth finder. Still managed to find a brush pile and get some nibbles off of it but nothing would hold onto the bait.

We were planning on going to fish a big lake with a guide but decided to not strand the family for the whole day. That's the trouble with going on vacation with the family. Ah well, went to the aquarium in Chattanooga and saw some big crappie in their exhibit. At least I can say I have seen some Tennessee crappie... coach

Man, it's pretty mild on the heat factor here. Too bad I have so much catch up to do today or else I'd be on the lake.

Too bad you missed the guide trip. You are more considerate of your family than I probably would be. However, all my family loves to fish so it would not be a problem. How big were those Crappie in the aquarium? Though I have not seen it in the summer, I love the country in Tennessee, beautiful at the time of year I was there.

Those crappie in the aquarium were really niced sized, easily 2-3 pound range. It's a little misleading being behind the glass though so I could be way off on the weight. Some of their bluegills, redears, and sunfish were bigger than some of the hog slabs I've pulled out of Lewisville. Shoot, I bet I could have filled up a frying pan with just the fillets from 1 fish. It is bad that when I see fish in an aquarium all I can think of is whether they have a place for free taste samples? grin
